ADVENTURE: Temple of Heaven
« on: March 14, 2010, 03:58:35 PM »
I'm working on the chain of adventures involving the Temple of Heaven in China.  I've gotten the first relic, collected the materials for the keystone, taken the keystone around to the Resolute Fist and Scholar's Garden.  Now I've used the key to get into the next part of the tomb.  There's one part where I'm getting stuck.  The door I need to unlock is in the upper left corner of the screenshot below.  I just don't see anything that will unlock it.  I've inspected all of the wall holes in the dive well room beneath where the door is, but I can't get anything to happen with them.  They each just set off a steam trap that doesn't do anything.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe Pangu's Axe may help with those boulders, they might cover something? Try looking around with walls up, in case there is a hole you missed.

I've been there, but long ago so I've forgotten. Anyways, have you drawn the cursor over all walls to see if there's any hidden doorways?

Temple of Heaven
The entrance to the Temple of Heaven is through one of the two small buildings in the complex. The first area you'll be able to access is unlocked through the Confounded Boulder! adventure line which leads to the Keystone of Pangu. This section is home to Pangu's Axe, and should be something you try to unlock early so that your Sim gains full benefit of ownership of the Axe. The Symbol of Pangu's Haven can be found through a hidden door near the stairwell with a table and candles blocking your Sim's progress. Look around in that area with the walls up to find the section of wall you can inspect.

The second part is unlocked by starting the 'In the Aid of Monks' adventure chain. You'll be able to explore a little further using the Temple of Heaven Keystone, but will need to fashion yet another keystone to make it all the way to the end. The final treasure room here holds a couple of relics for your collection and a Symbol of the Annex of the Resolute Fist.

That is on the Guide? So are you trying to get the Axe then? I have never got it.

They aren't the kind of boulders that have to be destroyed.  They are just decoration.  And this isn't the adventure for Pangu's Axe.  That second paragraph quoted from the guide is the adventure I'm on, but it doesn't give me any clues about how to get through that door.  It's probably something very simple and I'm just not seeing it.  For now, the vacation is over, but I'll get back to it sometime.  Thanks for the suggestions!  :)

Are you at a part where you have just finished the mirror image statue thing?

If yes, and if I remember correctly, after you've done the mirror image statue thing, it opens a door far away from the well (your screencap).

I can't remember already. China's the first I've done.

Mirror image statues!  That's the clue I needed.  I guess I need to arrange the statues so that they're mirror images of each other?

Even if you do arrange them in such order(which you need to do to advance), it doesn't seem to unlock the door on the other side of the mirror. I think it's just decoration to have a door there as the mirror room only serves as a hint to what you should do in the room you can access.

That door puzzled me too. I could never figure out how to open it (or how to get to it) but then I didn't seem to need it. ???

I have also done this adventure a long time ago but it seems that sim has to move the pushable statues around in the room with the mirror.  If your sim hasn't already done it, move one of the statues and I think there are pressure plates in that room.  A lot of times there are statues that are different colors than the rest that are key to reveling clues.  I think I remember having a devil of a time trying to get the statues around those poles. :D

Good Luck! ;D

While I was in that room, I tried moving the statues that are lined up in a row next to each other.  The first one would only go one space before it got blocked, so I just gave up.  I wasn't thinking about making a mirror image, though.  I'll have to give it another shot when my Sim goes back to China.

I did this adventure last night.  You have to pull all three statues out of that narrow hallway.  Once that is done you go down the hallway and there is a wallhole to inspect.  This will bring three squares on the floor to move the statues to.

Ok, so I was using a cheat and it deleted two of the three statues. I tried to replace it, but it made things worse! Is there a way to reset the tomb?

That door puzzled me too. I could never figure out how to open it (or how to get to it) but then I didn't seem to need it. ???
I had this problem too. Apparently someone on EA left this part a bit unfinished, as even on using cheats to enter build mode and check, I found that the door has no links or linked behavior, or whatever. It's just locked. So I unlocked it, and inspected the wall hole in the room (the only thing of interest in there) and I think I got some food and/or gems. Not anything important.
And talking about temple of heaven, you know there's another locked door, to a room you can easily enter through the door on the other side (I believe it's somewhere in the beginning of the tomb), I think there were just piles of ancient coins there, nothing more. But I used testingcheats to see if the door was supposed to have any links or behavior, but it was just locked, too. ??? Yeah, someone left the tomb a bit unfinished.
