Playing in order?

These might seem like a simple questions but I thought I'd ask anyway. Does the installation of the expansion packs have to be done in order to play? For example can Ambitions be installed before World Adventures?

Also once they are installed, can you go back to playing an earlier one or do you have to play from the latest game installed? For example if you have WA and/or Ambitions installed but want to go back to the "parent" game (The Sims 3), can you do that without uninstalling the expansion packs?

Once you install content, the only way to not play with it is to uninstall the content.  When you install an expansion or stuff pack with Sims 3, it automatically just includes that with the rest of the game.  It's not like playing a sequel.  It's an enhancement basically.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced problems with installing expansions out of order, but I have, and had to do a full reinstall, so it is probably best to install any expansions and stuff packs you have in the order that they were released. The wiki has a list of them and release dates, towards the bottom of the page.

According to Electronic Arts, the Expansion Packels should be installed in the order they were released.  This link gives an explanation.
