Athletic challenges
« on: March 13, 2010, 06:33:29 AM »
You should mention in your guide:

1. Pumped! moodlet also inhibits FatigueExhausted, Tired and Sleepy moodlets.
2. Fitness Nut challenge ensures your sim never gets fatigued from jogging.
3. Body Builder challenge ensures your sim never gets fatigued from Space Rock chopping.
4. Jogging while Push Self(I don't know about the others) adds hours to the Fitness Nut challenge.

Edited for corrections.

The fitness nut isn't just for jogging you know, it's also just cardio in general. I wonder if swimming is considered cardio in the sims...

I would think so, but I am not sure. The easiest way to get the cardio challenge is using the treadmill, Marathon runner just jogging not treadmill, strengh is Body Weights machine thingy.

...Marathon runner just jogging not treadmill...

Incorrect. It probably should be that way, but using the treadmill does indeed count towards the Marathon Runner Challenge.

Oh, it never seems to effect my time? I suppose it depends how long you do it for.

What an oversight. And for 6+ months. Thanks so much for pointing this out to me. Page fixed.

Glad I could help.

Anyway, not all types of running on the treadmill count toward Marathon Runner. Don't Break A Sweat doesn't count. Quick Burst and Push Self do(I didn't check out Good Pace and Basic Workout though).

Likewise, not all types of jogging count toward Fitness Nut. Only ..just as said as above..

I'll go test them out now. As well as whether I can swim forever... Besides, I do have Death Flower(s).

Edit: I was talking nonsense there. I'll just test the swimming then. :D
Edit2: Nope. Your Sim ain't no superhuman. Even with all the athletic challenges complete, a Sim can get fatigued and drown in a pool.

1. Pumped! moodlet also inhibits Fatigue and Sleepy moodlets.

Shoot! :o After so long after my first post in this thread, I just realised what I actually meant was Sleepy, Tired and Exhausted - Not Fatigued. So there's an error in your guide now. Sorry, my bad. :(

The best route for doing those challenges is to get a job that allows you to exercise at work...like athletic(do gym work out all day at work), police, and criminal(practice illicit activities).

You mean doing what you have said actually adds hours to Fitness Nut/Marathon Runner/Body Builder?? Which one specifically?

Well, I had an athlete sim and when she exercised at work it added hours, so i'm assuming it does for the other careers too... the ones that allow you to exercise. I haven't tested it much though, but my athlete sim got the challenges with ease since she exercised at work all the time.

For marathon runner, I just had her jog around the town. That one's easy. But for cardio and strength, you almost have to do it at work because it requires a ridiculous amount of hours to complete.

Ahh yes I think I remember now. Yea, I think it does add hours. I do recall added hours with no origin when I had a Sim in Athletics career line. More testing required.

For strength challenge with moodlet manager to take away fatigue, it only took about a few days for my sim.

I'll add that running different styles on the treadmill affect the distance over time for Marathon Runner. So, a Sim going on Quick Burst would do 10 Kilometres per hour.
