What does Copy Town do?

I realize this is a noobish question but I was on the main menu of my game and I realized I have no idea what Copy Town does.  Does that mean you copied the whole town to be exactly the same and does this transfer problems to the new game or is it a fix to clear up things that may be wrong with a town like the problem I had where everyone in town was at the beach for weeks.

It copy the town exactly the same. I did it with my freezing problem but the second town freeze also. It is handy if you make the town of your dreams lol! You can copy as many times as uou want.

As loveSims mentioned It makes a duplicate save file of the original town. I use this feature to back up my dynasty and contest files. That way I don't have to completely start over if a fatal bug occurs.
