Note Regarding The Jockey LTW
« on: November 04, 2011, 11:16:49 AM »
If this has been mentioned somewhere else and I've missed it, my apologies.

Selling horses, while earning you simoleans, does not count toward The Jockey LTW.  I've had the wish since starting my toon as well as self-employed Horseman.  My total earned for Horseman is 75,515 while my total currently toward The Jockey is 26,000.  I'm assuming that's from strictly racing.  I haven't put my stud up for service at the Equestrian Center as I've been breeding at home and selling the foals once they age up.  I've also made sure that my LTW sim has been the one to sell the horses.  I guess I'll have to do the Stud Service at the center if I want to speed it up.

Right. It's only race earnings that counts. I originally forgot to mention that, but Carl made an edit probably a week ago, so there should be no issue now.

Doing the stud service at the center is mentioned in the guide?  Does that work?

It would for the Horseman career, but probably not for the Jockey LTW.

Right. As I said, it's only race earnings that count towards the Jockey LTW. I'm not currently looking at the wording of the LTW, but I think part of the confusion is that earnings is mentioned, but not specifically racing earnings as the requirement. I realize that jockeys obviously race horses, but it still could be a bit more specific.

I've about given up on this LTW.  Was working on it on my main sim and he was about halfway there.  Then I swapped to another household as the active one for a few minutes and then switched back again.  I happened to check his progress on the 40k earns and it had been reset to 0. :(  I hope that's a bug because otherwise, if you want to complete that LTW, you cannot play any other household in that town until it's done.  And at 1,200-1,400 winnings per advanced race won, it takes a long while.  I find the Internationals still pretty difficult so I've been sticking with the advanced.  But this is the second time this has been reset on this sim. :(  Got reset when he moved out initially from his parents' house.

It also reset after I played a different saved game for a while.  I've resorted to 'other' means of completing that LTW since I'm sure he's earned the $40,000 by now had it not reset about 3-4 times so far.

LTWs and wishes are all reset unless completed when you switch households.  It's always been this way.  This is the first LTW where the money is counted while it happens not necessarily from something that can be found anywhere.

They should use a different mechanic then rather than earnings - like number of wins or something.  That doesn't reset.  Otherwise, you're stuck playing the same household for a long time.

LOL!  Try playing a dynasty or legacy and see how long you can stick with playing the same household!  By gen 4 I'm ready to throw up, (but not give up!)
What?  Grannies can't play games?
