3 new questions -- If you buy an item at one house and carry it in your personal inventory to the next house, does it count as one of the 2 items? (I'm thinking of a musical instrument or camera.)

Can you get rid of 2 twin beds and replace them with a double bed?

Should the next house cost more than the original purchase price of the current house or the price as shown at the time of moving? There can sometimes be a couple thousand simoleons' difference between the two.

No. Each Sim is allowed to buy 2 items per house, regardless of carryover.

Yes, but you would still be buying something and that would count as one of your allowed purchases.

The price at the time of moving is all that matters.

I'm hoping I get my new graphics card by then! If I get the graphics card installed within that period, I will defiantly participate and reach for a 2012 HoF spot!

Think I need to get into planning mode, I remember the last one of these moving challenges, it was interesting (all I can say without discussing strategy lol)

Does the house you move to have to be empty (of other sims)? And, do you have to move once you hit the top of a career? Should story progession be an issue? What if the game moves new sims into all the vacant houses?

Sims will come and go because of story progression, but there should always be available housing, you just have to deal with what's available.

The house would have to be empty; otherwise you'd be adding to the household, even if you move the other sims out. Besides, you can't move into an occupied house unless you evict your sims and go into the Edit screen.

Well said. I did add the word "empty" to the appropriate rule for clarity.

Treat careers with two branches (i.e. Criminal and Music) as being unique careers.

Does this mean each branch is a unique career? Or you can only get to the top of the career once, and the second branch doesn't count?

In other news: a rough draft of a spreadsheet is here (Google Docs) - constructive criticism and feedback welcome.

I think your spreadsheet is great -- thanks for putting it together!!!

What about collectables? Do they count towards the limit, or can they be sold before you move like sculptures and stuff?

Can you buy and sell profitable items from the consignment store without placing them?

And as for real estate, can we develop it as much as we want, or is buy/build mode restricted for real estate?

Do we have to buy the house furnished or unfurnished?

I'm pretty sure that when you move, you can only buy furnished houses. The option or furnished or unfurnished is only available when you start a new game and move a new household in.

They would count. You would be buying something so they would have to count.

Can you buy and sell profitable items from the consignment store without placing them?

If you buy anything from the consignment store it still counts against your two per Sim limit.

And as for real estate, can we develop it as much as we want, or is buy/build mode restricted for real estate?

Buy/Build mode is restricted across the board. I'll clarify that.

EDIT: Okay, check out the first sentence of rule 7. I just edited it. I clarify that you cannot move into empty homes that you would build on empty lots. All moves need to be to preexisting homes. I can't imagine anyone doing that anyway since Build mode is indeed banned across the board.

Do we have to buy the house furnished or unfurnished?

Correctly answered above.
