Uploading sim to official Sims website goes wrong
« on: November 02, 2011, 05:23:06 AM »
I've uploaded a sim called Homo Sapiens to www.thesims3.com (third from above) and after checking it out it was called **** Sapiens instead.
Obviously I didn't use CC or mods or whatever. If anyone can tell me what did go wrong I'll be a happy uploader. :)

In common usage (in the US, at least) that word is often used as hate speech against same-sex relationships, thus it tends to be censored on public sites. Nothing wrong with the way you used it, but automatic censors are overzealous. ;)

I thought so. At least they should make that word situation depending. There are a lot of contexts this was allowed.

True, but word filters aren't really that smart.  They can only identify words, and aren't really capable of the judgement necessary to determine context.  ;)
Old forum mods never die.  We just get archived.

Maybe if instead of naming it "Homo Sapiens" you named it "Homo-Sapiens" (with the dash) or "HomoSapiens" with no space.

I think... but I'm just guessing now, that that will result in total wordbanning. As I assume EA is smart enough to also conquer that. No full names containing homo, so also no first name including homo.

Saying that, I remember that I named him with the first name Homo, and the last name Sapiens. I don't think melting those words will make a difference. I don't even care to try actually, as that sim is on the web now and the taxonomic people among us will instantly recognize that name though.
Type in Sapiens and he will popup. Type in **** and I don't know. :P
