Do you need internet connection to install sims3 and sims3 pets??

I want to buy my daughter SIMS3 plus Pets expansion.  She lives in the boonies and doesn't have internet on her MAC does she need it to install her games??

If you buy her the discs, she won't need internet.

You can purchase the hard copy of the game on a disk directly from Electronic Arts or from Amazon.  There may be other places, but those two are reliable.  The other option is to download the game and, yes, an internet connection is required.

Well, I just checked the EA store and I only see it available as a download.  However, Amazon does have the disk for sale.

That is a question I would ask EA.  When I did a complete re-install the game notified me that I had to patch to be able to play.  I do not remember the exact wording.  I also do not know if I got that message because I was connected to the internet.

Your daughter would not be able to update the game without the internet.  There will always be bugs in the game (patched or not), but ones that have been corrected via patching will always exist in her game.

Thank you all for your help.  I have to agree I think the patching is an issue.  Best we  wait until she comes to visit and can get the patches off my internet.
