I've just hit a small problem. I was doing some testing and I upgraded something and my count for how many unique upgrades went up by one, but my percentage stayed the same! I'm going to try it again in another game file to see if it happens again. If it does, it would mean that even if I manage to do 100%, I won't be given credit for it.

Maybe there are more than 100 unique upgrades

Well, I need to know from other players who are testing if the game is accurately computing stats for them. Maybe it's just a fluke for you.

MarianT — I decided to delete your last post because it did contain some information which would steer some players in a direction to find key upgrades.

i have tested and have not run into that issue.  one test file down and it appeared that all calculations were essentially correct.

@Chuckles — the answer to your question is...

  • How you go about upgrading an object is your choice.

@Everyone — Twinmum has brought to my attention that there are issues with store bought items, namely the upgradable objects from the Eco Pack, such as the solar panels and the windmill. Uninstall these items before you create your scoring file. This is important because otherwise your percentages will be messed up. I've edited the rules. (Thank you, Norma ;))

So just those from the Eco Pack, or all upgradable store-bought-objects? Sorry if it's a silly question. :-[

I've never bought a single store item, so I'm in the dark if they all mess up the stats. You'd only be hurting yourself by having them installed and then finding out later it messed up your score, so if I were you I'd go on the assumption that you should remove all store-bought upgradeable items.

Hmm.. I'll have to delete all the store bought items in my legacy house to make that file playable while I do this challenge but I think there's only a few so it should be okay. Thanks, Metro. :)

Here's a workaround that I use. All of the downloads - store items, cc, etc - are stored in your user directory. Make a new user - I label mine "challenges" - and open the game from there. You will have the game, the expansions, and the stuff packs, but you won't have the store items. Easier than uninstalling and reinstalling.

Err, how do you do that? Sorry, I'm useless at techy things. I'm on Windows Vista, you can PM me if you like to avoid going too offtopic. (if this is considered offtopic) :)

A note about uninstalling the eco pack. Make sure you go through your installed content and actually find the windmill and solar panel and uninstall them. Don't just uninstall the eco pack, because I did that first, but then found that the solar panel and windmill were still listed individually as still being installed. Also be aware that if you got the free Toyota Prius, you would have got a different solar panel and windmill and these also need to be uninstalled.

Creating a new "Sims 3" folder with the Factory Reset tip of MoonsareBlue is also a very easy, simple, fast and not too techie way to solve this issue.

All details in this thread here:

This is what I usually do: a new Sims 3 folder for each tournament challenge.

2 questions: Are you allowed simbots, or do they count as adding to the household?

That would be adding to the household.
