The Faes and I wish everyone here a New Year filled with happiness and blessings!

I'm traveling to Connecticut to visit my family and won't be able to update until after the New Year.

The Waiting Is The Hardest Part

Alec and I discussed starting a family while we were on our wedding trip in Champs les Sims, but the full weight of our situation didn't hit me until we arrived home a week later.  There just wasn't enough room in our house for Alec and I to think about a nooboo right now.  What made it worse was there wouldn't be enough room until Grim came to take Mom.  To make it all the more heartbreaking, although Mom understood the situation, it didn't stop her from dreaming of the grandchild she would never see.

How unfair that my mother should be denied the right to glimpse her own immortality through my child!  I struggled mightily not to resent, even despise, the choices that led to this situation.  What made things even worse was both Alec and I knew that we were bound to repeat this when it was our child was grown.  But in the end there was nothing to be done but wait.  Both Mom and I had our obligations to fulfill and we would do what was necessary for the greater good.

Mom took it better than I did, were I in her position.  She enjoyed every moment she had left with Dad.  The two of them were like overgrown kids sometimes.

She also threw herself whole-heartedly into her art.  She painted her first masterpiece, which proudly hangs in our bedroom.

Alec threw himself into his work, quickly rising through the ranks at the hospital, and I perfected my fishing technique.  I expected the opportunities for work to come pouring in, but such was not the case.  More often I got calls from some promoter or another wanting me to dance at this club or eat at that restaurant.  My heart was not in such trivial matters.

When the day finally came we were completely unprepared.  I had hoped we would have more time with her, but Grim came to take Mom at the age of 93.  A respectable life, for sure, but still not long enough.

As if understanding the poignancy of Mom's situation, Grim was unusually kind - perhaps even apologetic - on his latest visit.

For her part Mom accepted the inevitable with her usual grace and good humor.  My last memory of her is watching her ghost take an overly dramatic swan dive into her headstone.  Way to go, Mom!  Always leave 'em laughing, even through the tears.

Alec was there to comfort me, as always.  One thing led to another and...

A few days later and my happiest wishes were confirmed by the incessant nausea that plagued me.

Although I know Alec hoped for a son, he fed me a steady diet of watermelon until Dad was able to confirm that we were expecting a girl.

My pregnancy was completely uneventful, at least until the end...

Thankfully I had a relatively easy labor, followed by the obligatory sparkles and ...

Meet our daughter, Brianna Fae.  She is brave and athletic, and she is number seven.  If all goes as planned she will usher in the final chapter of our story.  Such a big burden for one so small, but there will be time for that later.  For now I just want to snuggle her and breathe in the sweet scent of new life.

It's amazing to think only 2 months ago you started this! The end is near and Brianna is going to make this complete.

Sorry for the delay in posting my next update.  I've been sick for the last 5 days and it's too much effort to even play.  I have the pictures for the next update all ready to go, just haven't felt up to sitting down to write it.  I'm hoping to get to it in the next couple of days.  Thank you for your patience.    :)
