Breaking into Homes
« on: October 07, 2009, 01:09:33 AM »
OK one more question.  If I start a criminal career, what level do I have to be to get the suit and be able to break into people's homes?  I saw it on Youtube.  Hehe.

I split this topic because it went a bit far from the original thread about money trees. It's better to make a new one so people can find the information in the future :)

As to what you're talking about, Tom, I'm not sure how they could have done something like that. The only way I've "broken into" a home is to get invited inside and be there after hours with the klepto trait. You can even buddy up to them and ask to spend the night. Maybe the person in the video was simply wearing the criminal career track's uniform while doing this.

I've seen some people not thinking creatively and assuming they can only steal stuff that's outside but that's simply untrue.

The only way to actually steal, other than the random items criminals bring home after work, is to swipe something with the kleptomaniac trait at night time.

I read this about cheating and using teleport to get inside a Sim's home uninvited at night: http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/qna/936498.html?qid=79558

Also, you may have a burglar break into YOUR house!  If that happens, they'll be wearing the Cat Burglar suit.  That might be what you saw on Youtube.  Even if you have the Cat Burglar uniform from being in the criminal career, you won't be able to actually break into people's houses.  Your Sim may do it on the job, but you won't be able to see it or be part of it, just like with all the other jobs.

Aha, I see.. they used the cheating method I linked to. But the method I saw doesn't require a garage, just looking through a window... so it'd work for any home.

I guess you can be a peeping tom!

LOL sorry had to

Nice one Carl.

I think it's too bad you can't really break into a home or even the art gallery.
It brings a nice sense of danger to it for criminal sims.

I have a lil sim who is in the criminal career, master thief branch and after 3 nights of getting arrested, I was seriously considering a change in career and LTW.  It seemed to calm down a bit now, after she got past the cat burglar level.  Nothing like seeing your lil darling handcuffed and put in the back of a police cruiser.  :(

On the upside, she did get to meet some new friends and a chance to workout while in the slammer.  :D

:D  I forgot to mention that the 3 nights she got arrested, they were 3 nights in a row.  Unfortunately she didn't get paid to be arrested.

Good luck PJ.  :D

I had one Sim in the criminal career and he got arrested a few times.  :o  It's not very exciting, you get a couple funny messages about what he's doing in jail to pass the time.  I wish there was a little more to it than that, but I guess that's all we get for now!  8)

Well, when arrested you can work out, and make friends actually. So getting arrested just means a workout session for my  Sims, which they need anyway to excel as a criminal. It's funny that we provide weight benches to hardened criminals in real life too.

I think it has to do with getting rid of all that aggression. :D

After the 3rd night straight of getting caught, sim Sophia was actually running back to the police car...and Blair Wainwright was an elder by now so I was sure she could get away from her.  I kept yelling, "run for it."  My hubby thought I was a loon.  :D

I'd like to see how many people talk to their sims.
I know I do  ;)

I talk to mine.  It's usually something like, "Put that child DOWN."  Or "Do what I say!"  Or "Get your butt over there!"
