Wow!  Talk about reviving a story.  Two years is forever.  This is great, though, I'll definitely be reading.

Thanks Tilia! :)

Two years is a really long time. I had almost completely forgotten these characters, but they somehow seemed to be calling me to come back to their story. Luckily I found my old notes for the challenge after digging round in my book shelf so I could refresh my memory (and confirm that I have reached all the goals with gen 3).

And in sims terms it's almost like a different game with all the expansion packs that have come out. I started this challenge with just the base game and Ambitions. WA was added during generation three. So, now that I have restarted my gen. four, they have so many new possibilities in front of them with seven new expansions (don't have IP yet).

Generation 3.2: Celebrations

This update begins just like the previous did: with Richard's birthday.

He gets a proper big boy wardrobe. As you can see, his favourite colour is spiceberry.

And Maeve becomes an elder.

Cousins Hannah and...

Bart are also children now and Richard loves doing homework and playing with them.

This family is really close to all their relatives. Like the previous generation, also this lot take care that even the cousins in the townie households get a good education.

Chance reached the top of his career and became a Paranormal Expert. He is awarded the Ghost Hunter's Key to The Town in a ceremony at the City Hall. The Mayor is almost a carbon copy of Chance.

The townies of Sunset Valley really appreciate Chance's efforts to keep their city free of spirits and ghosts.

Richard has spent the day in Central Park with his cousins Poseidon and Hannah (now a teen).

They hear the cheering from the City Hall and hurry to see the ceremony...

... but are as late as auntie Lydia (also an elder by now). Richard seems really disappointed.

Chance is very proud of his new trophy.

Bridgette and Karen have decided to get married.

I have seldom seen a little boy so into a wedding as Richard. Just look at his expressions, so cute.

His cousins Hannah and Bart, on the other hand, could not care less for the ceremony.

Family, friends and relatives party but someone is missing.

Maeve had a game and could not attend the wedding.

When she gets home, she has reached an important decision. She makes a call and announces her retirement from professional sports.

Her nearest and dearest applaud her decision.

Abracadabra celebrates Maeve's retirement with a cartwheel.

Generation 3.3: Teen Years

The third update in a row starts with Richard having his birthday. Our little gentleman is really excited to grow up.

But as a teen he's acting so cool with leather jacket and all. I am happy he still shows features from our original Frio. At least his lips are as thin as Connor's.

Family and friends cheering at him include cousin Hannah, auntie Lydia behind great-aunt Tina Madsen, cousins Bart and Poseidon and auntie Emily.

Now that our little gentleman has grown up, he gets a more relaxed wardrobe in line with the leather jacket he grew into.

There are a lot of birthdays in the household, but no parties.

Bridgette turns elder alone. She did not change much - her hair was almost white already.

Chance aged up to elder with his wife Maeve cheering for him.

And they found a nice private way of celebrating the event.

And finally Anita turns elder alone in the yard.

Chance receives yet another recognition from the Mayor.

This time it was the Paranormal Memento.

This sculpture is given to those who have demonstrated exemplary service in the field of Ghost Hunting. The townies appreciate that the world is just a little bit less scary thanks to Chance and his amazing upgraded Banshee Banisher.

Townie fashion: Rhett Brandt has bought his jacket from the late Judy Bunch's estate and Poseidon's girlfriend Angelita Gaddis ... I have no words!

With only elders as his company at home, Chance likes to spend his evenings with the Brandts in the previous dynasty home. But the Psychic Curfew Police finds him time after time and takes him home, where he is always met and scolded by his enraged mother.

And all this when he just does homework and eats ice cream with Hannah! Tanks to all this hard work, Richard made it to the honour roll (as he did in elementary school, too).

Richard is also best friends with Bart Frio.

He frequently follows Bart home to the first Frio house. Once they met this embarrassing scene: Gerry and Emily having a private party and boogying the day away. Poor Bart, nothing is more embarrassing to a teen than to see his parents dancing. You can only top the embarrassment by having your friend with you at that moment. Believe me, this comes from an expert - I have two teens.

Richard is friendly and charismatic (+ easily impressed) so it is easy for him to make new friends. One of them is Gail Sheets.

Gail lives at 14 Sierra Tango Street, the old Langerak house. She has a teen sister Justina.

Justina is throwing admiring glances at our heir, while Richard is nonchalantly staring into the distance. The first signs of a teen romance in the making?

Maeve has taken up painting and sells her work through the consignment store. One day she sees a familiar face behind the till: her nephew Poseidon is the new consignment clerk.

As we saw earlier, his girlfriend Angelita Gaddis is in dire need of both style advice and exercise. Maeve can help her with the latter. She really makes her sweat on the treadmill.

One night when visiting the Brandt household, Anita learns that her brother Rhett has passed on. Lydia is heartbroken.

Putting her own shock and sorrow aside, Anita consoles the grieving widow as best as she can.

Back at home, Maeve and Chance are happy to still have one another. But for how long - they are both getting on in years.

This household has started to collect it's own band of gnomes.

Generation 3.4: Party time!

Surprise: we start the update with Richard's birthday!

Richard gained the schmoozer trait. So, if you couple that with his existing traits friendly and charismatic, he is a given success in the politics, his chosen career. His life time wish is to become Super Popular.

I don't know why Chance was sitting all alone watching TV through the whole cake shebang.

Richard gets a wardrobe fit for an up and coming politician.

These girls - Ivy and Georgina Gaddis - are daughters of Poseidon Brandt and Angelina Gaddis.

Richard arranges a party - one of many to come - on Aidan's Old Pier Beach. It is nice to see little Ivy come to the party with her grandmother Lydia.

The guests are lining up to get something yummy to eat. But the host better order some pizza for them, since he burned the hot dogs. Why he's dressed in his pajamas instead of swimwear - the dress code for the beach party - beats me!

Ivy and her baker's stand to the rescue! The Brandt family have brought their own lunch.

Richard is the first in line to grab a yummy muffin. And he has changed into his sports wear now - that's an improvement on his previous attire!

Angelita Gaddis is expecting her third child with Poseidon Brandt. Oh, the good old days before EA broke the story progression, sigh.

In the Sheets household Sergio Sheets is in mourning. His wife Sherry has just died.

Richard consoles the old man, while his daughters Gail and Justina seem quite unfazed by the loss of their mother.

The Sheets have lodgers living with them: Kelli Blair and her daughter Melonie - the toddler Justina is holding.

To cheer the Sheets girls up - though it seems they don't need cheering - Richard arranges a party for the younger generation. Gail has grown into young adult on her way to the party. She is the spitting image of Hannah Brandt up to her hairdo. Bart Frio - also a YA now - is puzzled by the clone party.

Maeve is leaving the house for the youngsters, but on her way out she greets Bart. I'm sure he's even more puzzled after this!

While the others dig into the hamburgers eagerly, the unknown townie girl is appalled by the lack of cutlery.

By the way, the woman in the hot pink jacket is Hannah Brandt.

And this is Gail Sheets. She and Bart are getting on really well - maybe they should get together, hmmmm....

Justina and Richard are getting pretty close.

Just at this moment Poseidon comes late to the party. "Whoa, Richard, what are you doing! Get your hands of that teen girl!" I'm sure it was just an innocent friendly hug.

Angelita Gaddis has given birth to her third daughter - Tammi - and gets rid of her baby weight with the expert help from Maeve.

Haunted teddy bear.

The teddies belong to the Brandts. And Chance comes to the rescue, of course.

No, no, no, Chance!! It's a gnome, not a ghost!

This little fella carries his mate to the safety from the rays of the Banshee Banisher.

Generation 3.5: Life goes on... and a life ends

Surprise! This update does not start with a birthday but with our two elder couples still being adorably happy together.

Richard advances on his career in politics. Bridgette is also on the same career at the moment. Her lifetime wish is to be Jack of All Trades, so she has changed her jobs often. And she did fulfill her LTW.

Richard, who still has to wait quite bit to have a family of his own, often visits his relatives. Here he's helping Angelita Gaddis with her new baby Tammi.

I was happy to see that Tammi's father Poseidon came to visit his family. Poseidon still lives in his childhood home, the old Frio house. By the way, Poseidon seems to have taken a job in the military. I guess he did not like his work behind the till in the consignment store.

Poseidon had gained a little weight which is not good for a soldier. Maeve helps him get fit again. And she takes her task seriously - just look at that face!

Richard and Justina Sheets are best friends. Well, more than just friends: they are planning their life together after Justina grows up. Richard tells her that her duties as the wife of a politician is to arrange campaign fundraisers, among other things.

Richard can already imagine the two of them living in this house with their future children. The toddler in his arms is Melonie Blair.

With four elders in the household a grimmie visit is inevitable. Bridgette is the first to go. Her spouse Anita is devastated .

Chance is at work when his sister dies. Being a Paranormal Expert, he immediately senses what is going on at home.

Bridgette provides the required tombstone, but that is no consolation to poor Anita.

The first night alone in the big bed is always difficult.

Grief can make a sim go crazy.

But soon Anita is comforted by Bridgette's ghost.

"Wow, pretty stars. And a ghost, so cool!" Ivy Gaddis is excited.

Ivy and her sister Georgina are tutored by Richard.

Maeve is frustrated: "Just look at this mess. I cannot get this picture right."

She was trying to paint a picture of Richard and Ivy together but the colours came out all wrong.

Having your cousin standing by your bed while you sleep - creepy.

They maybe old, but they still know the moves.

The gnome army is ready to take over the world. Well, all but one soldier.

In Finnish, "tammi" means oak. Am I right? Just caught up with this, and that just popped into my mind.

P.S. The gnome pictures are hilarious.

Yeah, oak is tammi in Finnish. Are you a fellow Finn?

I am glad you and others like the gnomes. They are so funny. And it is so fun to follow them where they pop up next.

Yep, I'm from Finland. And my gnomes also like to teleportate around the lot. In my currently most-played game, I have one ordinary, one from egypt, two from sculpting and one from university. And they're never seen without every other. I guess they just like company...

Aww, thanks Hazel. How can you even remember the story, when I find it sometimes difficult to remember what was going on! :)
______________________________

Generation 3.6: Love and Death

You know the moment when you are visiting a relative or a distant friend and all the usual topics have been addressed, there's this awkward silence and you don't know what to say next. Well, that's the moment right there between Richard and auntie Lydia. They are just sitting rigidly on the sofa and staring into the distance in silence.

Richard has brought Justina along to meet his relatives. Justina is finally a young adult and able to have a romance with Richard.

They share their first kiss right there, in front of Lydia and Hannah.

And just at that moment Lydia has to die! Well, at least that seems to be Justina's reaction judging by that annoyed look on her face. She was frowning all the time when the other were grief-stricken. Fair enough, she did not know Lydia, but she should have shown some compassion.

And later the same night in the active Frio household, it's time for Anita to leave sim earth.
"You, to the grave!" Grimmie commands Anita. She tries to plead for her life, but cannot sway the Reaper.

Anita's remains are placed next to her beloved Bridgette. Now, we have two graves that qualify as a moving requirement.

When Lydia died, I knew it would be Maeve's turn soon. Bye bye, Maeve, you were a wonderful sim. And at that point of time two years ago, the sim I had played the longest (had not tried the Immortal Dynasty then).

Chance, a Paranormal Expert, naturally wanted to have a chat with the true Master of all things paranormal. One cannot pass on this kind of opportunity even if you just have lost a loved one.

One large gravestone added to the family graveyard.

Sims are in mourning for only two days so it was soon time to arrange another campaign fundraiser.

Justina is really flexible.

After the party, Richard takes Justina home. Now that they finally are alone, RIchard has the chance to ask Justina to be his girlfriend.

Of course Justina agrees and they spend the night together.

A close-up of the future parents of the fourth heir to this DecaDynasty.

Maeve's ghost makes her first appearance. After a moment of playing in the sprinkler, she sees her husband. It is an emotional reunion.

And Richard has a chance to tell his mom about his plans to marry Justina.

Richard gets an opportunity to Deliver a book to France. He spends a couple of days there exploring and searching for relics. This was the first vacation for the Frios.

And then Grimmie comes for Chance. Richard is alone in the household now.

And we have four gravestones. A sad, but at the same time, impressive sight.

I cannot end this update on a sad note like that. So, to give some positive news I can announce that Richad was apponted Mayor of Sunset Valley! And he wears a clean shirt!

I have to admit that it took a while.  I was there thinking, Isn't this old rules/story progression? and then some of the screenshots started to look familiar.  Then I noticed the dates and the penny dropped  ???.

Sorry for the hiatus. Concentrating on the tournament challenges combined with some computer problems have kept me away from my stories.

Generation 3.7: Time to Move On

Another campaign and another fundraiser. Governor Frio is aiming for the vice presidency and after that ...World Leadership!

Poor Justina is impaled by the pizza box.

Luckily she was not severly injured, so she could follow Richard to Aidan's Old Pier Beach. Here, on the same lot where the first Frio proposal took place, Richard was going to ask Justina to be his wife. But the romance flew out of the window, when...

... Justina had to pee. But a politician is persistent even in the field of love and Richard follows Justina to the toilet, gets down on one knee and digs out a diamond ring from his pocket.

Justina gleefully accepts the proposal. Richard still has requirements to fill, so they have to wait a bit to get married.

Even as a ghost, Maeve still wants to keep fit.

During another one of his numerous parties Richard notices that Angelita Gaddis is pregnant with her fourth baby (oh the good old days of the old story progression!)

And soon he gets to congratulate her on the birth of her first son Shad.

Maeve: "What is this racket! It will wake up the dead!"

The burglar was apprehended, but Richard let him free. The things a sim is ready to do to get another NPC friend!

A townie blowing sparkles on Richard - no, he just turns adult. Time to start working earnestly on your final moving requirements!

Buying a property: I think here Richard is buying the Central Park, if I remember right. Anyway, it's a nice picture, IMO. And the park is called Richard Frio Park now.

Getting parenting advice from dad.

Making NPC friends.

Max career: The Leader of the Free World!

Buying a building: The EverFresh Delights Supermarket is now called FrioFresh Super Market.

Assebling the required set of Unique Items: 10 spirits that Chance Frio has collected worth 2460 simoleans.

Going to work in style.

Dreaming of future and sharing a home with your loved one.

And finally Richard and Justina are ready to say their vows in front of his deceased ancestors ...

and living relatives and friends.

Mr and Mrs Richard Frio.

After a last look at his the house he has called home until now...

... it's time for Richard to pack empty his inventory and move to his new home.

Everybody was kung-fu fighting, Those cats were fast as lightning....
