High end loft stuff
« on: March 10, 2010, 02:48:17 PM »
I still haven't bought this pack, and was curious what other people thought of it.  Does it come up with free points for the Sims store?

I love the High End Loft Stuff Pack.  The items have a nice modern flair that I really enjoy.  I don't know if it comes with Sim Points.  I don't think it's supposed to, but there was a glitch in EA's system and some people accidently got some Sim Points from buying HEL.  They may have it fixed by now so that you don't get any.

Yeah, I agree with Pam. I enjoy all the new items, especially the fish tank that holds 6 fish, instead of the other one that holds just a single fish. The new guitar is pretty cool, but I haven't tried out the vibrating bed yet. The decor stuff and the chairs, sofas, love seats, etc. are also really cool. I got it as a gift, but I wouldn't regret buying it either, as it's relatively cheap (20 U.S. dollars I believe?).

Omg, you Americans get ripped off! (in my opinion) I ordered it for £7.99 (inc P&P). Don't know if it works out in the exchange stuff. I'm pleased because I use Play.com (UK only I think). I ordered it on like Saturday and I have it on my desk now.  ;D

Mines called 'Design and High-Tech' stuff though.  ??? :o - Still has vibrating bed...

I don't have HEL, but I quickly checked on a Swedish gaming site and there they had it for 200 kr, which is less than 20 $, but not by much. I believe that £8 is by comparison approximately 120 kr (at most). So yeah, we're getting ripped off! ;D

It's really not as easy as saying we're getting ripped off.  There are endless factors that go into determining what price should be charged in a particular economy.  By the time you look at cost of living, median income, and everything else, we're all paying about the same for the game once you break it down to what impact the cost of the game has on your disposable income.

I suppose Play.com have, lets say, very competitive prices! Compared to other places which will be around £10 - £15 some including P&P if they are online and some not including it.

Actually, I think one of the biggest factors in EA's pricing is simply keeping in comparison with the rest of the market.  While EA could sell just about any Sims game for half the price and still make a fortune, that wouldn't be fair on a smaller gaming company trying to compete.  I'm sure there are laws about it, although I can't recall the name.

I agree with Pam here. It all depends on the country and other factors past that. Anyways, I really like HEL stuff, though honestly I've never been fans of stuff packs compared to expansion packs, but this time I made a promise to myself I would get everything for Sims 3 as soon as it comes out (or as soon as I could get it.) Seeing as I can afford it most of the time now, I enjoy getting it. I love the flair it added to the rooms of one of my older houses and I can honestly say it has never looked better! I really enjoy the new TV's and my favorite thing is the new modern bed (not the one that vibrates, I haven't tried that one yet, I thought it seemed too flashy to put in the house... maybe I'll try it on the next house I create.) I do enjoy the new stuff, I was just hoping they would have more clothing and stuff, especially for children and toddlers. I get so sick of using the same clothing. Oh well, maybe next time. I would recommend HEL anyways. :)

I've splurged at the Sims 3 Store and purchased some really cute Toddler clothes.  It's mostly for little girls and that's why my pregnant Sims eat a lot of watermelon!

Me too! I love little girls, they are a lot easier to dress then boys so most of the time I get excited when my sim wishs for a girl. :) Also why Watermellon is one of my first must-have gardening fruit.

I would really like to see downloaded content get a price break.  No packaging, no shipping, built in DRM...  All this should come with a price break for those that choose to avail themselves of the download process.

As for H.E.L.S. I like it okay.  I still have yet to find lots of cool stuff to use regularly, but it seems to be worth it to me when you compare it with the cost of items from the exchange.  I'd still like to see the ability to make adjustments to items.  I want more energy 10 beds, yet it seems as if a 10 energy bed in the exchange is like finding a Pegacorn (Half unicorn, half pegasus) They did finally add one more 10 energy bed that I bought immediately, and they added one in H.E.L.S. also, so now I have 3 bed options, but still no single bed 10-E bed...  :'(

I know. You're preachin' to the choir on this one. I did a little rant to Pam when looking over all the object stats when we both got HEL. This is precisely why every one of my challenge characters gets the Sleep-Slave Double bed at Day 1 — even if it's a single character challenge. A Sleep-Slave Single for like $750 less would be great.

I wouldn't mind so much about the beds not having high stats if they were priced accordingly.  I guess we're paying for looks on some of these, but I wish they would give them better stats for the money.  When you get to be rich, you shouldn't have to choose between looks and quality!  :D

Does the mood gizmo make it so you don't have to sleep?

It does when the exhausted moodlet appears, you can max out the energy bar with it when you do that! Some say you can do that with the mummies curse too.
