Wild horses = Mustangs?

I do apologise for littering this subforum with topics, please bear with me.

Does anyone know, who has adopted a wild horse, if the breed comes up as "mixed" or "mustang"? I was sort of planning to, when my Sim is able to befriend and adopt wild horses, to breed and train Mustangs based on suitable wild horses/mustangs (?).

I don't really know what breeds wild horses are when you adopt them, but they're not all mustangs. I assume that most of them are mixed. I adopted a paint, and it ran around with a gray horse (mule-ish with big ears but I bet it could breed) and a beige horse. Later in the game a new paint horse spawned to run around with them.

Any number of so-called 'breeds' are based solely on color and nothing more.  Pintos, Palominos and Paints are a good example. Some years back, many Appaloosas were multi-registered, meaning they were registered Appaloosas AND registered 1/2, 3/4, or 7/8 Quarter Horses or Arabians. The Appaloosa registry has since tightened its requirements. Generally, any horse may be a Pinto, even a mule, so long as it has varied markings. American Painted Horses may have Quarter Horse parents, Thoroughbred parents, or registerd Painted Horse parents. Theoretically, the wild horses in Sims that resemble Painted Horses are really Pintos, since we have no way of verifying their parentage. To confuse things even more, there are registered Solid-Coat Painted Horses (offspring of two Painted Horses with varied coats). But I doubt anyone will really care about any of this.

So, to be clear, Pintos are not Painted Horses. However, wild horses and mustangs may be Painted Horses.

I didn't know that about the wild horses really I had no idea what breed to expect to get but I think the one I am pursueing is a paint because now that you say that it looks like one or something similar. Can't adopt yet because my riding skill needs improvement by a point or 2! Working on that and I will let you know what I find!

The distinction between Pinto and Paint is really a bit absurd since "pinto" means Paint in English!  Aren't the markings a bit different for the two breeds?

Mom, you need to be at level 8 riding to adopt a horse.  I just got my black horse, Caro and am about to go after the largely splashed with color, (lol), horse next.  I like mustangs.

I agree, Joria, but the respective Pinto and Panted Horse registry organizations differ as to their criteria. It's a rather moot issue within the context of this game because there is NO Paint or Painted Horse breed available; only Pinto.

If anyone adopts a wild horse, exclusive of Unicorns, that is anything besides 'Mixed' or 'Mustang,' please post here. I'd really like to know if breed horses are available in the wild. So far I haven't seen any.

That is what I thought I am almost at riding level 7! So just a little more than 1 point to go. I am also trying to adopt a unicorn so I am working on getting BFFs too. That sounds just like the horse I am after. Brown with large white spots. Very pretty! Then this one my be Pinto? I don't know but I will let you know when I do adopt it! Also I seen somewhere that someone said all adopted horses are mixed and that is not true though you do have to look at every horse everytime I have looked there was at least one breed horses available and both the center and through the paper! In fact my horse is an elder adopted Arabian!

I just got my wild horse adopted and it came with 3 traits and level 8 riding and a challenge completed immediately when I adopted it. It is an elder female horse. But how in the world do I figure out what type of horse it is? I feel like it is going to be something so easy but I somehow overlooked it? I tried but can't figure it out?

Hi, Mom!

This question has been asked a few times. In truth, the game does not differentiate between breeds. I know that sounds a little confusing, but breeds are relevant to game mechanics only insofar as CAS appearance is concerned. In CAS we're offered the choice of several breeds; notwithstanding, these breed selections provide only for specific conformation and coloring components, such as head shape for Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, and Arabians. The bottom lines is breed is totally irrelevant to a horse's performance and personality (read: traits). In keeping, EA has provided us no way of verifying what breed a horse is. If breed was a factor, Quarter Horses and Appaloosas would be very swift over short distances, Thoroughbreds would possess excellent speed over medium distances, and Arabians would be the preeminent endurance animals. As much as I'd like more reality in the game, I suspect coding in unique traits and physical capabilities/limitations for all the breeds would add to game programming and processor overhead by an order of magnitude.

Short answer is: you can't determine what breed your horse is; pick something, make believe, and have fun with it.

Well I was hoping to get you an answer for whether mine is Mustang, Mixed, or something else! Though I think it looks like a Paint but then again I don't know much about the breeds or anything and I know you said the game registers as Pinto! I was just hoping to get an answer for you! But I guess there is no way huh?

I was wondering about breeds too, seems like every horse available for stud at the equestrian center is mixed breed?  Does that make the ponies worth less?

I think that I read that it doesn't actually affect the value of the horse but only skill points do and possibly competitions! I thought that was in the guide but I could be wrong. If you haven't already read the horse guide check there!

Weell, if it is impossible to tell what breeds the wild horses are, I guess I'll just charm a few of those broncos who care to be adopted and let them have a small *cough* CAS-accident (since I've now discovered "testingcheatsenabled true" ) to mustangify those I'd like to pair up with my foundation stallion, as I still intend to base my breeding programme on wild horses.

One of the breeds available in Create-a-Pet is Mustang.   Unless you're truly intent on doing the wild horses thing where you have to work to become their friends, you could always make a mated pair when you make your Sim and then you'll have the bloodline you want.

Yeah, I created my Mustang when I created my Sims toon - and I thought I had read somewhere that the wild horses you can adopt are Mustangs, but it's also likely I just dreamt that.

And yes, I'm going to work hard to rope in prospective girlfriends for my stallion .
