How Do I Breed Pets?
« on: October 23, 2011, 03:15:29 PM »
I have a male and a female dog, who are best friends with each other. How do I breed them?

Do a couple of friendly interactions and then there should be Romantic.

You also need a Dog House for them to WooHoo in. Well as far as I know you do.

Yeah, I think you're right. And for horses, you need a box stall.

My Sim moved to a house that happened to have a dog house and my two cats tried for kitten in the dog house.

@Simstar:

With a high relationship bar and some friendly interactions, romantic interactions will become available.  From there, you choose Try for Puppy (or Kitten or Foal).  They will go to the dog house or stable.  I heard the chimes when they were done, so I guess that part is the same as with Sims.  I don't know yet if my cat is pregnant, but she probably is.

The chimes are needed - just like with sims. I had to get my dogs to woohoo 3-4 times before I heard the chimes.

Is it only for dogs then? Because when I bred my horses, I had them woohoo like 7 times and I never heard anything so I gave up, thinking that maybe they just didn't get chimes. Sure enough, my mare was pregnant the next day.

I don't know. I've only tried dogs. But sometimes with sims the chimes don't sound and the sim is pregnant - I thought it was a glitch.

I heard Chimes for my Cats, I have yet to breed Dogs. I didn't hear the Horse one because I sent her to the Equestrian Centre. Maybe asking MaryMarsh, she has the Horse Breeding Ranch.

For my first foal there was no chime but the second got one. Maybe it's just a bug but maybe not.
For my second mare it took about two days until she "announced" her pregency though.

I think the Chimes is a bug (when it doesn't sound but there's a pregnancy started).  Particularly if the chimes have to compete with another sound in the game.  With Sims, if she starts getting nauseous, then you know it worked.  The only clue I've found with horses is that the mare tends to stay in her stall.

But you had this pregnancy buff right? Because my mare was running around like crazy all the time and did everything she usually did. Like playing with her ball and practicing for races. She only couldn't jump because she was pregnant.

When my mares are pregnant, they tend to voluntarily stay in their stalls.  I've also noticed that once you get the message about expecting a foal, their exercise bar goes static.  They just stay in their stall, eating and looking out of the door.  Just before the birth, they exit the stall.

It's kind of understandable, I mean a pregnant woman eats for two either and the further the pregnancy is the more it hurts to move. I suppose my mares are just ... "special" then or strange ... depends on the point of view. :)
