Cats and Kittens
« on: October 21, 2011, 06:18:44 AM »
I am a Cat Person in real life and currently have 4 cats living in my house.  I'm playing a Cat Person in Pets and I just want to know if anyone else is rendered useless by how adorable and cute the cats and kittens are.  I started with my CAS cat, Pepper AngelCat, who is my representation of my dearly loved cat who passed away in 2007.  My Sim has also adopted a kitten and an adult cat.  Seriously, I'm having a little trouble playing the game because I'm so distracted by their interactions and how real they are.  And the kitten...  oh, my head.  She looks very much like the adult Pepper AngelCat; just a bit more brownish in color and different color eyes.  She has played in puddles, scratched the couch, and yowled along with the radio.  Cute, cute, cute!  I just uploaded a video of the yowling to Facebook.  You guys have got to see it.  :D

She's definatly well cute!  I haven't tried cats yet as I've never been a cat person, but you just persuaded me to try town sim with cats to see what I think.

p.s.  Pam I love your use of ...   ;)

I know exactly what you are talking about. I'm generally not really girly but this expansion has brought out my inner girly-girl. I am making so many squeals and giggles I think my husband is going to scream if I don't mellow out :P

I have gotten a bit carried away with the horses and only have the room for the one cat at the moment, but I can't wait to check out what the kittens are like. I love my little cat I have right now, she came from the phone adoption service. She is very well behaved without much effort on my part, a huge difference from what I remember in previous sims pets.

"Rendered useless" is a good way to put it. I love all kitties, but torties especially, so I was a little bummed that it isn't a default breed / coat setting. But I've spent hours painstakingly recreating my current companion in the game, and oh wow is she cute. I'm going to have to revisit the editor eventually to fine tune her coat, but so far I've had plenty of fun watching my cat be adorable in the game while she sits perched on my shoulder irl. Things like jumping off a chair and occasionally face planting on the floor are great little touches.

No kittens yet, but I'm totally stoked for it.

Hi Gator.  Welcome to our Forum.

The first time the kitten ran to the litter box, she stumbled right as she got to it.  She played in the puddle of water made by the broken shower.  It's all just too precious.  My Sim has just adopted a 3rd cat from the shelter and this one is an adult male named Jax.  I'm hoping I can get him and Pepper to have kittens.  He's shy, though, and hides under the couch.  Poor kitty, but he'll come around.

I adopted a kitten from the paper, Nova, and when it runs it sometimes rollsover  ::) It's so adorable. Nova's also noisy and I'm like "Awwwww"  behind my laptop all the time.  ;D ;D

In real life I'm a total cat person - have done cat rescue work for many years now and have 3 dearly loved (Dusty, Duchess, and Splash) and two departed but never far from my heart (Blackie and Pokey, RIP my angel babies).

I've actually been avoiding the cats and kittens thus far because they are so cute from just the adoption pictures that I'll never be able to do anything except play with my kitties if I start.  Heck, even the minor pets totally enthrall me - how can I possibly survive the onslaught of kitten/cat cuteness?!

I hear ya loud and clear!  So far I have not adopted a cat for fear I'd never do anything with my rl cat, Pounce-A-Daily-On.  Yes, he pounces on unsuspecting sleeping people, then runs away laughing! lol  (If you are awake he asked politely if he may come up and lay on your face!)  If they have Himalayans as a breed I'll be lost and will have a house over run with kitties, although my Pouncy cat is a ginger colored, long haired, rescued kitty.

Is "noisy" meaning the animal is chatty or just makes a racket around the house?  My graceful Pounce doesn't talk much but he literally stomps his feet when he walks and knocks things over deliberately.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Oh wow, Joria, it took me five times reading your cat's name to 'get' it.

I love Himmy's, too.  I almost adopted a rescue Himmy, aptly named King George.  When I would go in to volunteer at the shelter he would drape himself around my neck and purr like crazy.  No one wanted him because he had a hematoma on his ear that his previous owner didn't take proper care of so he had a cauliflower ear.  I was just about to cave and ask my husband if I could have him when the nicest couple ever came in and adopted him.  Four years later and I still think about him and keep in touch with his family.

After seeing Pam's awesome kitten videos I am definitely having my sims adopt at least one cat!  My RL cats sleep on my bed (usually on top of me)...I wonder if sim kitties can do that, too?

I know the cats and dogs can sleep on the bed but puppies and kittens can't jump up there.  However, I've yet to see them roll over on top of the Sim they were next to.   I have to admit I wasn't looking to see if they would but now I'm going to.

I love the interaction for a Cat to go under a sofa it's so cute, my Nanna's Cat does that (Cause there is a hot water pipe under the floor right there...  :P ) I also just had kittens in the game, I just suddenly got this notice that I had Kittens and not just a pregnant Cat, so I find the no warning a bit annoying but oh well.

I, for one, am not surprised!

I've turned aging off on my game so the kitten won't age up yet and also to give my Sim a realistic chance of fulfilling her LTW and still somehow make enough money to support the household.  She wants to be a Cat Herder, so she wants to spend lots of time with the cats.  Between that and just the care and feeding, she never has time to paint, which is her profession.

I haven't seen them rolling onto the Sim while sleeping on the bed, either.  They just take up their spot like a Sim would.  Good thing, too, because my Sim can't afford a 3rd cat bed.  Yes, that's how poor this household is.  Haha!

I've got another video of Sondra playing in a puddle of water from the broken shower that I'll upload later.  I'll let y'all know when it's ready.

My Sims don't age up at all. I hate dying Sims (Means I love them too much).
But aside from that, I wanted to age up my kittens using a cheat, but they're too cute to do so.
They're so amazingly adorable with my horse.  And together.
I really like how they take care of themselves in the game. I'm not capable of playing multiple Sims that much, but the kittens are fine on their own.

Made some to cute to be true screenie's i'll post later in the screenie thread.  ;D

Also, I believe my (Human) Sim, just growled and barked.  ???  (I don't have a dog though.)
