Also, I believe my (Human) Sim, just growled and barked.  ???  (I don't have a dog though.)

It was probably a dog from outside.

Ahaha! My Cat is so cute! She was hunting and suddenly pounced and it was like a Sim fight and then she was stalking a Western Painted Turtle, then she explored under the Sofa and now she is just so cute! Although the fact that she could eat the Wormrat she dropped was slightly realistic (I didn't let her) so that makes me think that maybe a Cat could be self sufficient without a Sim to feed them.

This is my current household's kitty, Echo, doing a little nighttime fishing with everyone's favorite angler. She always looks so proud of herself when she catches a fish!
