Me too, Moons. It's been giving me hours of play but sooner or later it still crashes. I'll ask my dad to take a look I guess (he works in computing).

Well, if he figures out how to fix it, could you PM me? I'd greatly appreciate it.

I did the DEP settings too and restarted my computer. Actually, I didn't have any crashing stuff but after setting the DEP, my game slowed down more. I have a slight freezing now.

Click to open System, on the control panel.

Click Advanced System Settings.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Under Performance, click Settings.

Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. Than once you have that open, go the EA in program files or program files(86), click EA, Pets, Game, Bin, and it's the one that says TS3EP05. I had to add it to mine when I got mine. Hope this helps. And yes, I have all the games on that list.

Have a question here please. I can't see 'TS3EP05' in Bin. Where can I find it? I added only 'TS3W' and my game didn't get better. Freezing is still going on. And one more question, thanks.

My friend's computer has 32bit, Windows XP. Is it possible to set the DEP as well?? Because she said,"She is not allowed to select both ."  Turn on DEP for Essential Windows program and services only and Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. She says  these 2 selections are inactive.  She is on the administrator account and it says she needs boo.ini file to edit DEP. Thank you.:)

The TS3EP05.exe should be in pets, game, bin.
And as a reminder you need to put all .exe files in the DEP are it still wont work.

As for as Windows XP. I have it and I was able to do the DEP.

You didn't get a message about boo.ini to edit DEP, did you?

I am working on this right now but my question is do we need to do it for all the Sims 3 game or just for Pets?

@ Summers right you cannot select both. You just select the "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select". And I have Vista 32 bit so yes you can do it with that.

So I managed to play my game for a couple hours, but it still crashed even after adding the .exe files to the DEP exception list. It's really annoying, because I never know when it's going to crash. Sometimes it's a couple hours, sometimes it crashes after 30 minutes.
The first thing I did, I got a cooling pad. I had a bunch of screenshots which I removed. I removed the tons of CC I had.
It still crashed. I decided that it was that it my computer was overloaded. I removed the SPs and it stopped. When I came here I found DCBackups and removed those as well monthly. A few months back it started chrashing again. I had to clean up my computer and put only the EPs I used. I am now playing without a cooling pad and 5 SPs. I guess that it fixes itself, but I also did a complete reinstall.

Sorry for the different language but
I better put a picture here to help understanding.

I've been using a cooling pad for months, and that definitely helps. I recently did a factory reset and that cleared out anything that was not needed. Then I added my saves and downloads, no CC. I clear out my caches a couple times a week, but I try to do it every time before I play. However, I can't delete my DCBackup folder because it will make my Fountain of Youth useless. I'd rather not uninstall anything. I bought these EPs and SPs with my own money, so I'm definitely going to use them, haha.

Ok that is strange. It sounds like she's missing that file she might be able to find it online.

I guess it's just me then. Because when I cleared my DCBackup, the fountain stopped working. Luckily I didn't delete them from the Recycle Bin, so when I restored the files, it started working again.
