New Cooking Recipes ...
« on: October 20, 2011, 07:59:54 PM »
Does anyone know where to get them?  I am playing one of my older toons that has cooking maxed and all the challenges done.  I was 100% for recipes before pets came out.  Now its down to 88%.  I have been using the TV to no avail.

Does the bookstore have any new recipe books?

Alex has a pet falcon and when she goes to the fridge, she has the opportunity to make gourmet pet food. Not sure if this would count toward the number or not.

There aren't any new recipes at the store.

What about trading cooking secrets with another natural cook?

I think it's just gourmet pet food. I have a sim who is only level 5 in cooking and he knows 6 pet food recipes. I had moved him in with the sim I was playing, though, so I don't know how he learned them. I thought they just came along as he leveled up.

As soon as you hit level 1 or 2 cooking (can't remember at the moment) you just know how to make gourmet pet foods.  They aren't learned from anything except the expansion.  Even though they show up in the cooking skills book, I'm not sure if they count towards the number of recipes learned, as you don't have to actually learn them, you just get them.

I actually think they might count as recipes learned (as far as Culinary Librarian LTW goes) because as soon as my sim achieves this LTW, the Cooking Skill book has 28 recipes, normally. These new pet food recipes are also listed in the skill book, and they are listed exactly the same as any other recipe. If this is the case, that would make Culinary Librarian a much easier LTW to achieve.

Five new ones total when at level 10? I may have misspoken when I said 6 recipes then, but I find it odd that my sim knows them all at level 5.

I think I did the calculation right? My level 10 cook knows 28 recipes, and that's 85% of the total now. 28/0.85= 33, once you account for rounding. If there were 6 new recipes, then 28 would only be 82% of the total.

That sounds right to me. So I guess that just means that all the pet recipes are learned at lower levels.

I know, mine too..I don't have pets but my sim can make  horse, duck, chicken and dog food.I made her cook the horse granola once and she made 4 "plates" and put them in her inventory. No icon,no possible use..I wonder why they added this in the patch and not the game itself.

There's a pet interaction that allows you to feed them to a horse if you have them in your inventory.
