Ah gotcha and yes, it's where we both currently play :) Glad I'm not the only pet junkie out there.

Can't wait for chapter three, the references in the story are great and brought a smile to my face. Makes the story very familiar but with a twist.

*bows humbly before the master storyteller*

Loving this story so much I can't even express it!  Torgo sends his regards and says if he weren't so madly in love with Violet he would be all over Lilac - hubba hubba!

Lilac is a gorgeous sim, although I suspect it will take her a bit of getting used to her new body.

Chapter Three: Let's get Started already.. Sheesh

Gah! I forgot how frustrating the first generation is.  Let's see the rules state..
-mumblemumble-
Ew random traits.  No rich spouse for 1st gen. No cheats.  Well that's the easy part.  Money should be §1300.  Um.  No - I'm allowed §1800 in the dynasties.  I'll just do that thanks.
-clicking of the mouse-
Ok Metro says to use the foosball table and Village No 7.  I can never find that painting.  There should be a keyword search when looking in buy mode.
Aha! Ok.  §1808.  Well that's close enough for government work.  What in the world is she doing?

God I love Sims facial expressions.  Mmk.  Time to build a little shack.  I should probably put a fence up since I saw that post on the wild horses eating crops.   I hope I can afford a toilet.  Oh! She wants to join the science career.  Ok.  Just go get that paper there. Fine.  Talk to the kid then read the paper.

~*~*~*~*~*~

I know I have been speaking to others for light knows how long but actually being moved to a new world still surprised me.  The grass and trees I saw before me looked like none of the pictures I had seen in what I'm now calling "the ready room".  A small part of me wishes that someone else had been brought here with me: Natalie, Antone, Chris.  I'd even take the old lady or the old red guy.

After a moment, I decided to finally take a look around my location.  I step further onto the property that is obviously mine to get my bearings. I began to muse to myself. "No house in sight.  Wait a minute…"

"No house.  No other people.  A mailbox, a trash can and an open field.  What did they say about that?  Oh yea!  I must be in a legacy or dynasty.  But wait - the old lady and Natalie both said my LTW would never be used in a dynasty."

I did the best I could to self assess what I thought my lifetime wish should be.  It turns out that's exactly what I wanted.  I also want to join the science career and take a gardening class.

Before I knew it, two hours had passed and a little boy was stepping onto my lawn.  He waved to me and put a newspaper down on the ground.   I waved back and stepped closer to chat with him.  I asked him what the name of the town was.  He gave me an odd look and said, "This is Appaloosa Plains, ma'am.  You sure you're ok?"

"Of course, I was just making sure.  I've never seen a picture before." He quirked an eyebrow at that but it was the truth.  Anyone could see that I was serious.  We chatted for another moment and he said the best place to learn herbalism would be at the science center.  Wait, not herbalism, it's called gardening in the Sim world.

Then a strange feeling came over me for just a brief second like time was freezing.

~*~*~*~*~*~

   -sigh-
It's not my best work but with only §1800 it's the best I could come up with.  I'm surprised I actually managed to buy a shower and a toilet.  Wow, she has absolutely nothing left.  I should spend the last §100 on fruit for the garden to get it started. First - read that paper woman!
It never hurts to know your boss.  You know.  It's true.  Let's call her up while I explore the town to see if I can find some free produce.
-drinks last of her drink through a straw-
I cannot believe it.  The only plants in this town are in people's yards unless I'm blind.  No deathflower in the graveyard either.  Not that I can use them.   It's so hard to remember I don't have to supermax anything in this game.  Alright let's add go to the pet store to the queue and I'm going to go get another drink while you do that.
-mouse click, mouse click.  Thunk when chair whirls to hit desk.-

~*~*~*~*~*~

That brief second was over before I could really think on it.  The only reason I'm even bringing it up is because everything is a new and exciting experience for me.  Some of it is kind of frightening, too.

I was as the young boy goes out to the street and hops onto a metal frame with two wheels attached to it.  Through a series of gears he manages to propel himself down the road without hurting himself.  Interesting contraption.  Oh blast it!

It is in this moment that I realize that everything is gone again, except now it's not just my mounts, pets, clothes, now it's also all my money.  Where did it all go?  I pick up the paper and walk around a little bit to find the spot with the best light to read it.  I'm in a field with the sun shining down on me so it wasn't hard to find a good spot.

I've never seen writing like that before my eyes, yet I understand it completely.  I know what ever symbol is called and what each grouping means.   It didn't take me long to find the want ads in the center of the publication.   My career of choice was the third on the list.

Music could be heard in my head as I made the decision to take the job.  I knew automatically that my application had already been accepted, who my boss was and that my work hours began in the morning.  Something called a carpool would pick me up at 8 AM to start my day.  I have officially started my new life.

I glance around this area one more time as I place the paper down on the ground.  That's when I see that my field is no longer just a field.  I have a little shanty next to a fence.  Actually, calling the structure a shanty was being overly grand.  However, it was more than I had two hours ago and it seemed to cover most of my basic needs.  There was also a source of water beside the toilet that looked like a great place to put out fires that can sometimes be known to happen.  I wonder what other uses it could have.

Now that I knew where all my money had gone, I decided to call the only person I knew in town other than the little guy I met this morning.   It doesn't hurt to chat up the person who is going to be in charge of what you do every day.  I used to have a great relationship with my raid leader and that always seemed to help when it came time to forgive my mistakes.

Gracie Loveland seemed very excited to make my acquaintance once she answered the phone.  I asked her what she was expecting of me with the new job and if there was anything I should know about the locale.  She mentioned that I should show up to work in the mornings with a good attitude and my needs taken care of.

After an hour, we hung up the phone just slightly closer than we had been before I called.  I couldn't tell if she had enjoyed the conversation and I wasn't sure how I felt about it either.  I did know that I had a sudden urge to go check out the local pet store.  It sounded like a great idea actually.  Maybe I can find something cute and cuddly to play with like Breanni's shop back in Dal.

I couldn't help but sigh when I remembered I didn't have a mount.  I was fairly certain I didn't have the riding skill either so I would have to scrounge up whatever the Sim amount needed so I could get to places faster.  Of course, I remember a time when it took forty levels before you could even think about using faster transportation.  So I'll do now what I used to do back then… run.

~*~*~*~*~*~

-Can set down on the desk-
You know - Sims can be so weird.  Why is she running all the way to the Pet Store?  I wonder if this is some type of new glitch.  That's not annoying at all, huh?  She's almost there now so no use worrying over it.  I can't wait to see what the exclusive content is.
Hmm.  I wonder if that's supposed to be some type of Dolly Parton wannabe.  The horse is gorgeous though.  We'll have to keep watch on that house and see if it has pretty foals.  Maybe I'll get Lilac a horse if we figure out a way to get money.
Finally! She made it.  Well I can honestly say the shop is kinda cute and color coordinated.  I wonder if you can get this stuff through buydebug.  The little paw print dirt circles are awesome.   That would make a really cute flair to a house.  I might actually remember that one day, too.  Time to go inside and hope that the register isn't broken.  I wonder if you can sell wild animals to this place.

~*~*~*~*~*~

The run from my land to the pet store was a long and slow one.  I should have been out of breath but I wasn't which surprised me.   Of course, back when I had to do this to get anywhere, I don't remember being out of breath then either.

On the path over, I was passed by a beautiful white horse and it's rider.  Something about the rider caused a small part of me to get excited like a school girl.  I have no idea where that feeling came from either.  I saw people trying to take her picture as she rode past them.  I wonder if she's someone important.  I certainly didn't recognize her, but would I recognize anyone?

I arrived at the little corner shop and took a look around for a moment.  I saw these cute little statues near the bushes with little signs.  That's when I realized these were the gnomes that Natalie told me about.  Little men made of stone with pointy hats and long white beards.  Well isn't that just ridiculous.  Only the weird gnomes have white hair and none of the upper level ones wear their wizard's hats except in SW.

Having finally met the Sim equivalent of a gnome, I felt strange.  I felt.. I missed being a gnome.  I missed having two big ponytails and being four feet tall.  I miss my magic and my glowing staff.  I don't think I'm going to get any of that back either.

Sad thoughts continue to plague me as I enter the pet shop.  Self preservation pulled me back into my current reality when I got a good look of the person standing behind the register.   She introduced herself as Hetty Lionheart and showed me a catalog of all their current products.  It was interesting seeing all the things you could buy for your pets.

After I was done looking, I decided to look around the shop at all the little decorations.   The moment I did I saw the prettiest bird I had seen in a while.  I had to go talk to it.  When I wondered what type of bird it was, the knowledge instantly came to mind.  It was a Yellow-Naped Amazon.

As soon as I was done talking to it, the bird disappeared.  I had no idea animals could do that.  I wonder if it was a cloak or something when I moved to see the other tanks nearby.  There was a chipmunk in one of the terrariums.  I watched it for a while as it ran around hiding under its shelf and then playing on it's wheel.  Another customer got close so I decided to move on but then it disappeared, too.  We looked at each other and shrugged.  I was going to introduce myself but she walked away so I turned the opposite direction.

"Squeeee!"

I couldn't stop myself from making that  noise when I saw the snake just lying their on a rock.  "Awww." It was sleeping and looked so peaceful.  There was a part of me that knew that there were no races when it came to the Sim world but the fact that I was seeing a snake in front of me and no trolls really drove the fact home.  It was a Scarlet King Snake and it was absolutely gorgeous for a little fellow.

Before I got in trouble with the scary lady behind the register for making so much noise, I straightened my back and turned for the door.   I stepped outside to look at the "gnomes" once more and that's when I realized that I had things in my inventory that hadn't been there earlier.

It was the three animals I had seen in the shop.  The bird, chipmunk and snake were all right there which meant I was the reason they had disappeared.   I stole them from the shop like some common thief.  Why would I do such a thing?  I can't believe it.

What could possibly ever make me do such a thing?  I used to be an honorable gnome.  I held the rank of officer within Cake or Death.  I had once been trusted with our guild bank and so much more.   Now look at me, first day as a Sim and I've lost all of my moral standards.

Maybe...

(Chapter Three continued…)
~*~*~*~*~*~

Wow.  That was better than I thought.  Let's see that chipmunk is worth $121.  The Yellow-Naped Amazon is worth $532 and the scarlet king snake is a rare worth $679.  Wow Jackpot.   Hrm.  To keep the bird or to not keep the bird.
-start making noises vocally while I ponder-
No.  We'll sell them all and if RNG is nice we'll get a chance for cute pets again tomorrow when the spawners actually spawn.   So that was a quick §1332 I didn't have a minute ago.   You can actually take that gardening class now for some happiness points.  Whoo.  Silly Sim.. Leave the crazy cat lady alone.

~*~*~*~*~*~

"Please, take back these animals.  I don't know how they ended up in my inventory."

"I'm sorry but we don't buy wild animals. "

"Please.  You have to take them back!  I didn't steal them. They're right here. "

"Right where?  I don't see any animals.  Just leave me alone.  I need to get home to my babies."

As she walked away, I started to search within my inventory.  They had been right there next to the newspaper and my diploma.   That's when I got that feeling again like there was something else in the universe doing things in the background.  This force, this magic, made things happen.   Maybe that's why the animals ended up in my inventory.  Maybe that's why I now have more money than I did before I got to the pet store.

In fact, I had more than enough money to buy some produce to plant in the ground and to take the class that would help me figure out the best way to do that.   I watched the old cat lady get into a metal contraption I had never seen before.

It was large - large enough to fit a four generation gnome family and their toolboxes inside.   I have never seen such an invention before but as I actually looked around I noticed they were everywhere.  People were using them to get from place to place.   Gosh.  How much is the ability to use one of those going to cost?  Although it makes me miss my mechastrider just a little bit more.

The gardening class was great!  I got to meet a few new people and my boss was the one giving the class so that was a relationship boost I hadn't expected.  They told me that just by attending that I was considered to have my first official skill point in gardening.   I wonder if that means I'm an apprentice.

Gracie also gave me some seeds to plant.  She mentioned that fresh produce from the store was better but the seeds would help if I couldn't afford the fruit.  I was given a list of what I could plant at my current level and she said the worst case scenario was I could use the seeds for extra cash or fertilizer when I was skilled enough to figure it out.

I decided that the extra cash would probably come in handy so I ran back to the grocery store to buy some produce from the list and maybe get some extras to eat later.   I didn't have anything that would allow me to cook.  I lost my gnomish army knife in the transfer and my cooking skill so I had no idea how to make a fire in this new world.

The young kid at the checkout counter was kind of rude.  He inputted all the items I had bought into the little computer thing and then told me how much it was but he never actually looked at me.  He was more interested in the conversation he was having with the young girl at the other counter.   Apparently, the Watering Hole Saloon was going to have celebrities tonight.

After I waved my hand over the device he thrust at me.  I could feel the knowledge that my money was being transferred to them.  That is such a weird system.  I wonder how it works.  The young man had immediately turned away from me and went back to giving his attention to the girl whose name was May.   Now, I grew up in a world where people are rude and immature.  I've heard my fair share of short jokes and gnome puns.  I even had a guy call me a hobbit once forgetting where he was but I wasn't going to stand for such rudeness in my new home.

I maneuvered myself so that unless he walked around me, he wouldn't be able to see May.  I looked her straight in the eye and asked her where I would fine this Saloon.   She gave me a smile.  Unlike the guy behind me, she wasn't upset at all by my actions.  She even described the outside of the building so I would be sure to find it.  She said if I was lucky I might just find a real cowboy inside.  I didn't know what a cowboy was but I thanked her all the same.  Motioning behind me I wished her luck in finding a real cowboy of her own.

I'm not entirely certain what the young man called me as I walked out the door.  Apparently it was kind of rude, because May came to my defense and dumped a 'slushy' on his head.  I couldn't help but giggle as I headed for the Saloon.  Just as I was about to start my run, a yellow one of the metal contraptions stopped in front of.  The balding guy at the wheel told me to hop in and he'd take me wherever I wanted to go.  I asked him about the saloon and he said he knew exactly where it was.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Alright.  Let's head down to the local watering hole and see what we can find there.   I already know that Gavin is out.  He's rich and so is the Singleton brothers. No use cheesing it and hoping she doesn't learn they're rich before she marries them.
-drumming of fingers on desk, cadence ending with a popping noise from my lips-
This is the smallest bar I've ever seen.  Why is there two bars inside?  They so should have made just one to make more room for something else.  Like a stage.  Guess I'll have to buy it eventually.
   -slurp of straw-
Darn.  Two female mixologists.  Where's the bouncer? Oh there he is and with Lilac!  Silly little sim.  Instead of going inside, she decided to talk to the guy at the door.

Well isn't he interesting looking and what kind of name is Gurpal Einstein?  He reminds me of a gnome.  I love the hair and the glasses.   Hm.  Potential Spouse located.

~*~*~*~*~*~

"Salutations!"  The moment I stepped out of the yellow vehicle I was drawn to the figure standing up the steps.   His big grey eyes framed by dark rimmed spectacles.  The lenses were clear unlike the engineering goggles I was used to.  And of course there was the size of his…

~*~*~*~*~*~

Well that's interesting.  Now I know we've met the one.  She's got a wish to get to know two of his traits, to find out his sign and get married.  Not to him but just to get married.   This is going to be an interesting game indeed.

~*~*~*~*~*~

…auditory receptacles.

He greeted me with a nice smile.  The way his lips curved just at the ends made my blood pressure rise to audible levels.  He bid me welcome to the Watering Hole Saloon.  With a smile of my own, I told him my name and said I was new to town.  This was his first night here, too.  He didn't live in the city limits and his name was Gurpal Einstein.

After a moment of chatting, I couldn't help myself.  I leaned in close to whisper into his ear.   "Did your transfer go wrong, too?"

The confusion on his face told me the answer before he asked me what I was talking about.  I told him it was some type of joke I heard at the store and was hoping he had known what it meant.  With a pair of shaky laughs, the conversation moved along but I could tell that I was losing his interest.  So a gnome has to do what a gnome has to do.

I deployed one of the last options left to me.   I performed the maneuver that the old red guy had taught me.

The maneuver was a verifiable success.  As soon as it was deployed, Gurpal reacted in kind and the conversation and night were saved!

As it got closer to midnight, I started to sway on my feet and Gurpal insisted he hail me a taxi to send me home.  I didn't want the night to end but he was right.  I had work in the morning and I still hadn't planted my produce.  As soon as I arrived, I started my planting.  I was beyond exhausted but I wanted to get this started so I would be able to feed myself when the money ran out.

As soon as it was done, I curled up in the sleeping bag done in my favorite colors and passed out into a deep sleep filled with images of a certain somebody.

~*~*~*~*~*~

   "Honey, you ready for bed?"

Wow is it late.  "Sure thing babe.  Just let me save real quick."
   Good night Lilac.

Ok I hate to say this but I'm putting my Little Lost Gnome on hold.   I may do an update or two because I have the pictures.  However, i can't play either of my dynasties thanks to Pets.  So I'm going to try to uninstall.  If I do that, it means Lilac is gone for a little while.  Promise to bring her back but I can't just give up on Artie and Sage.

Good things are worth waiting for.  ;) Of course an amazing Dynasty lead by an Evil Red Guy in the meantime is a fair exchange.  :P

Chapter Four: That's what the shower is for!

Poor Lilac.  I think it's time to play with her for a little bit.  I would love to at least get a house for her.
-waits for loading screen to finish-
Oh yeah, I went to bed when she did.  Tomorrow is first day of work.
   -giggle-
What in the world is that stray doing?  That's right kitty.  No grims here now get away from yesterday's newspaper.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Sleeping in a sleeping bag isn't what I remember it being.  I awoke to the sound of a loud noise from the nearby street.  Turns out that the loud noise was my carpool waiting for me to get in.  I quickly rolled up my sleeping bag and tucked it in the corner of my little fenced in area.   On my way to the car, I ate some grapes for breakfast.

It took me a minute to remember how Gurpal had opened the door to the taxi the night before.  Once I was finally seated inside with the door shut, the driver of the vehicle gave me a look and started to move forward.

"Took you long enough." This was all my companion said to me as we rode into my first day of work.  Despite the rough start, I was really excited for this new experience.   It was like gaining the first level of an expansion.  By the end of the day, I was feeling less excited and more tired and stressed but I still enjoyed learning new things and meeting new people.

When I noticed that it was the same woman from earlier driving the carpool, I made the decision that she could go stuff herself and took a nap on one of the benches there at work.  Once I was feeling a little more energetic, I took a good look at my surroundings in the late afternoon sun.  That was when I noticed something scurrying about in the nearby bushes.  When I got closer, I saw it was one of the cutest little things I had ever seen.   I picked him up and gave him a quick snuggle.  Apparently, chinchillas are actually quite rare but I wanted to keep him for myself.

Down near the falls, I found another little creature.  A Pygmy tortoise was hanging around the brush so I picked it up.  Immediately, he was named Speedy like the one I had gotten in Stormwind.   I started back towards my house with only a quick stop at the pet store to say hi to Hetty and to buy two new terrariums.   I think the whole town knows about my living situation because she gave me a used lamp, too.

Along the walk to the back of my lot, I noticed some butterflies and I just couldn't help myself as I tried to collect one of them as well.  I almost fell backwards as I tried to stare at the one that landed on my nose.  Never have I lived in such a world where the critters could interact with you on such a level.

Once I set up the two terrariums how I wanted them, I crawled into my sleeping bag and hoped I would wake up early enough to get some gardening done.

~*~*~*~*~*~

I guess I'll let her keep them for a while.  It quick and easy happiness points every time she wants to play with one.   Sleep well, Lilac.

I woke up the next morning before the sun did and went to work on my little garden.  As soon as that was done, I enjoyed a crisp apple for breakfast.  I don't understand where the green clouds came from though.  They followed me around as I moved.   I wondered if it was from my nightgown but I still had them in my day clothes.  It was a mystery to be researched at work.

With that thought, I grabbed a taxi and headed that way so I wouldn't have to see the carpool lady again.  Once I was there, Gracie took me to the side and asked me if I wanted to use the decontamination room.   I have never heard anyone laugh so heartily as Gracie did when I asked why I would want to do that.  Well maybe that one dwarf that liked to visit the Pig and Whistle.

"Darling, you stink.  You need a shower that's why."  She replied back to me calmly and suddenly, I couldn't control the color of my cheeks.  There was still so much I didn't understand.  She took me in the back where I could take my clothes off and take a quick shower to clean up.  I realized when I saw all the plumbing involved that the thing in my little shack next to the toilet was a shower.  Now that I knew what it was for, I'd probably start using it more often.  To think, I almost sold it for cash.

At the end of the day, I decided to continue my on foot exploration of Appaloosa Plains.  Every time I saw a rock or bug, I just had to head straight over there and pick them up.  I know that the insects could be sold at work for profit and I had two little guys at home to keep fed.

I gave up with my exploration and collecting when I had two separate incidents with a ladybug.  I just couldn't believe that I could catch a rare pet but a ladybug eluded me.

Unsure of what the standard protocols were when interested in a male of this world, I went to the library to do some research on the subject.  Apparently, there are some couples that are married the very first day they meet.  The method seems to be flirting followed by physical advances until the pair have reached a point in the relationship where a ring can be produced with happy results.

I have never been one to rush a courtship but I knew I wanted to at least see Gurpal.  That was when a nice man stopped me to introduce himself.   His name was Chuck Hobble and he was with the local city guard or police as he called it.  He was very nice and welcomed me to town.

We did the customary small talk of two people meeting each other and then when I wasn't paying attention, I was letting him flirt with me.  I couldn't believe it!  The moment I looked into his flirting eyes, I realized that there was absolutely no spark between us.  I let him down gently by saying I had already met someone that my heart had claimed.   He seemed to understand and held the door for me as I left the library.

I ran down the street towards The Watering Hole and continued up the steps to say hi to Gurpal.  He smiled when I came into view and I couldn't help but feel warmed down to my toes by the sight.  We spent the rest of the night just chatting and flirting with each other.  I'm not ready to tell him how I really feel yet but I'm sure it wont be very long before I get the courage to do it.  I've defeated countless armies of undead warriors and giant dragons.  How hard could it be to tell someone I want to spend forever with them?
