Ch. 8: Bittersweet

I will now tell you of a day that really shook me to my core. Lily passed away.


Grim came for her, and I was furious at first. How dare he take away such a sweet animal. Lily had never done anything wrong! But as I watched, I learned that even Grim was sad to take her away. He gave her a loving embrace.


I cried as Grim mounted her. However, Lily reared up and I managed to see the happiness in her eyes. I suppose she did live a long life as a sweet animal, and now it was her time to go.


Grim opened a portal and Lily galloped through.


Rest in peace, Lily.


The whole family was affected by Lily's death.




But none more so than Acorn. Lily was his mate. I know that I would be heartbroken with Gavin's death, and to see Acorn experiencing that sadness was incredibly painful for me.


Orion sensed Acorn's sadness, though, and he blessed him. It really helped with Acorn's mood.


But with the passing of Lily came a new miracle. Mint gave birth. He was named Kindred.



I was very happy to see that Acorn took great interest in his grandson. They frequently played in the yard, and Acorn was seemingly happy again.


Oh, Kindred was wonderful. For him to occupy Acorn's time was all I could ask. Seeing Acorn's heart break was painful, and I don't know what I would do if anything else happened to him.

Is that what that is? I was wondering why the pattern was so strange. I'm pretty sure no one genetically has a heart pattern, though. I'm not very sure about how horse genetics work yet.

I'm fairly certain Story Progression goes to hang out in Advanced Mode and throws patches of both parents into a little horse and then spits it out.  Some of the patches available are hearts, lollipop and butterfly.  I've seen a butterfly pattern on an all white horse randomly.

I wish they could have put the special designs in some kind of separate category so that it won't wind up on animals without you specifically putting them there.
