The Brooks Legacy: Now in Union Cove
« on: October 18, 2011, 08:57:14 PM »
Ch. 1: An Introduction

Hello! My name is Allora Brooks. I'm an Equestrian, Brave, Neat, Athletic, and I Love the Outdoors. When I was growing up, I was fascinated by a story about a unicorn. I won't elaborate much on it now, but I will tell you that in learning more and more about unicorns, I was drawn to Appaloosa Plains. Not only is it the best way to compete in horse competitions, but I heard that unicorns run freely in this town. My Lifetime Wish is to Adopt a Unicorn.

The first thing I decided to do was head over to the stables. I always wanted to learn how to ride a horse, and the 1300 simoleans in my pocket had no other purpose.

I walked in, and the first horse I saw made me smile so much that I just couldn't look at any other horse. His name is Acorn. And he is the most beautiful mixed chestnut horse I have ever seen. He is a Genius but a bit of a Piggy. He is also very Quiet. Acorn is the now the love of my life. I will admit that I immediately offered him as a stud to make a couple extra bucks. He cost me over 700 simoleans, but he was worth every single cent.

I took him across the way to the horse park. There are areas set up for race training and jump training. I decided to try my go at jumping.

Acorn, being the Genius he is, caught on very quickly.

After a couple hours, I have him a break and fed him a treat. His muzzle was warm and possibly the softest thing I have ever felt.

I heard there was going to be a competition at the stables that night, and after riding all day, Acorn and I were confident enough to compete in the Beginner course. I lost a little confidence as I struggled to mount him. Acorn waited very patiently for me.

He thought it would be fun to run to the stables, and I was so terrified! I had only just gotten Acorn and he'd already decided to go running! I didn't know how I was going to get through that competition.

And you know what? We won! We won first place! Oh, Acorn, you are marvelous! I rode Acorn home that night and with our prize and stud money, I purchased some hay and a water trough for Acorn. I bought myself a sleeping bag. I guess Acorn doesn't like eating from bales of hay, so I had to spread it out for him to eat it.

Acorn and I made a quick trip to the grocery store so I could get some fruit for me to munch on. When we returned home, a raccoon had gotten into my garbage!

I cleaned it up and went to sleep. Acorn slept right beside me in my sleeping bag all night. I might not have had a roof over my head, but I had Acorn. And that was good enough.

Thank you! I have been playing this game all day today, and I'm so excited to share it now. This EP really is awesome. I haven't really decided what I'm going to do yet, other than normal Legacy rules. I just figured that doing a Legacy would be the best way to share my experience with everyone. :)

I want you to know that you've inspired myself to actually do something like this.  I am totally giving you credit for pushing me over the fence into the "yes I will" column.   ;D  Good luck to you and I can't wait to see what else has happened!

Why thank you! I was about to start a Legacy last week, but then I decided to wait until Pets came out. This is all so exciting! I will definitely follow whatever story you start. :)

Also, I have enough pictures for an additional update, so that's exactly what I'm gonna do!

Ch. 2: Training

Acorn and I, we were just best the pair. In the morning I would ride him to the horse park and train until the afternoon. Acorn's skills continued to grow and he gained the trait Agile.

We'd take a break in the afternoon for lunch and affection. I loved Acorn so much.

I was feeling pretty confident and I encouraged Acorn to run the jumping track. He couldn't jump them all, but when he did jump one, it felt like I was flying.

While preparing for another competition, I found myself in a very awkward situation. Somehow, I had mounted Acorn backwards! I was pretty embarrassed, but I got over it. We had another competition to win!

Well, we entered the Advanced competition, and we made fourth place. That was okay with me. It just meant that I needed to train more.

I rode Acorn home and let him rest. He was exhausted. I took a cab to the library and tried to read up on some equestrian techniques. However, I didn't get any reading done because I met Gavin Pinkerton. I don't know why, but I was just so drawn to him. He was handsome not only in his looks, but in his actions. I really liked him.

I had work to do, though. Acorn and I needed to train. I was still living under the sky, and while Acorn gave me great joy, I would still like to have a real bed. So, I put Gavin out of my mind. The next morning, Acorn and I went through our normal routine, jumps and all.

That was when I stumbled across my first wild horse. It was beautiful with a luscious mane that I just wanted to touch. It didn't seem to want anything to do with me, though. And my heart broke.

However, I was determined and I pulled out a bell pepper and ran after the horse again. It gladly took the vegetable from me, and I got to touch it for a short minute. It was fascinating. An animal like Acorn, roaming the wild and only interacting with us sims when it chose, not when we chose. It made me wonder if it had ever seen a unicorn.

After a few more competitions, and a couple trophies, thanks to Acorn, I was able to afford a small home.

One morning, I went outside to take Acorn to the park like I did everyday, and I found this little gnome. Apparently it suddenly showed up while Acorn was licking his salt lick. It's the same color as Acorn.

Even jumps like him, too!

Acorn and I were really starting to make money in the competitions. I was so proud of him.

Here are some of the trophies that Acorn and I had won. They were sitting in my kitchen for lack of a better place to put them.

The next day, I got the urge to invite Gavin over to my humble abode. He came over, and I was overcome with the desire to propose. I don't know what it was, but it just felt like someone was choosing my decisions for me. I was okay with these decisions, though.

And apparently, so was Gavin. We married by my mailbox.

Thank you! I think everything is better with pets, including stories. :)

The only thing about wild horses is that they are very hard to find again. :(

Thank you. :) I almost have enough pictures for another update, but my game keeps crashing every thirty minutes for some reason. It's really frustrating even though I'm saving like every 10 minutes. I have never had a problem with crashing that I couldn't fix, and this is very upsetting.

Yeah, I've run into that problem on my test file.
