RunAmokSims - It's not if you have it in your town, it's if you have it at all.  I just replied on the Dog Training thread.  I have the spellbook and the fountain of youth.  I deleted my entire DCbackup folder plus all the other files that's mentioned when you clear up your cache.  It's a couple of files that are listed in this thread.  It worked magically for me.  I pulled the catnip mouse out of the pet toy box and as soon as my cat attacked it, his skill went up.

I just got my Limited Edition!  I ran because there were two girls looking at the 2 left in Target. I ran so much and snatched to two copies almost out of their hands and yelled 'Sorry!'
Installing now!

Worth it to get it though right? I'd do the same, so no shame!

I pre-ordered at Game Stop, but didn't get a chance to pick it up until today. They still had plenty of LE copies left. Installed it before I had to go to a meeting about my Thesis, and instead of following up on that meeting I'm going to start playing now. xP

Fiddling with getting the Pet Shop working, but I like the new town a lot.

I'm installing right now. I'M SO EXCITED!!!  :D
It sounds so cool from what I've heard. Next stop: Ranch House!  ;)

Also, feel free to request a home by PMing me! Always happy to help.

Hey guys I'm taking an extended hiatus... again. I'm out of ideas to build houses and I don't have as much fun designing homes like I used to; it feels more like a chore. So that's where I'll be, I will probably be back sometime. :P

My cat just went to the cemetery and caught a robot fish... I was thrilled - she brought it home and I put it in the fish bowl... she began to watch it in the bowl and her hunting went up.

edit:Sorry, I should have specified the hunting trait training went up, not the skill.

Good to know that their hunting will go up doing that.  My cat caught a frog in one of the ponds.   I thought frogs were native only to France so now I'm really tempted to go have a cat fish in SV and see if it happens there, too!  Opportunities done without travel brought to you by well trained cats!

I didn't originally plan on playing with the horses much, they just didn't appeal to me.  But, after trying out the pre-made family, the Martingales, I love horses!  To me, they put this expansion over the top for being worth the purchase.

I ended up making a household with the new lifetime wish called 'The Jockey'  where you need 40,000 in winnings, and also registered for the new Self-Employment of Horseman where you make money from winning competitions and from selling horses.  I have thus far sold 2 trained horses and only made about 10k in winnings.  It seems a little slow, with only being able to get 2 competitions a night, for about 5 (I think) nights a week.

Over all, the dogs and cats are totally awesome for the cute factor.  for example the 'awwww' action with kittens is hilarious, and watching dogs roll over the ball when playing makes me laugh every time.

The new town is ... new.  I like it a LOT more then Bridgeport, though I have seen some strange pathing bugs.  For example, a sim can't walk from point a to b in a straight line.  Sometimes they just refuse, or they can't walk through doors etc, It may be due to the new door action to refuse pets access to some rooms.  This is minor and to be expected, I don't think any expansion hasn't had a few bugs.

Some new additions that are nice to have:
  • random name generator ( never noticed it before )
  • the preview function for lots, nice for saving time when looking to move a household
  • the building and buying tools, sorting by collections.  was in the patch just prior to the expansion, but still like it for building theme homes
  • new house pets, I love the new birds and cages.  I have 4 birds and the tree displays, love watching them fly around my house
  • the collection finder reward now also shows rodents, snakes, birds and turtles!

Just a few of my likes/loves about this game.  I haven't run into a single serious negative thing yet with the expansion.

Edit:  I just remembered one small negative thing, If you create a sim who has the 'animal lover' trait, they get a negative social hit whenever they socialize with someone who specifically is any of the three 'cat person', 'dog person' or 'equestrian'.  To me this seems a little odd, if you like all animals, you should at least be neutral about any animals, not negative.

Haha same for me but with Honey Darnell! I got so enthralled with the horses, I haven't even tried dogs yet, and only one cat.

I love how you can invite friends over with their families now, choosing which to invite!

So far I am loving this new expansion and I only have gotten a couple of kittens. They are now cats and I want them to have babies, but haven't quite figured out yet how to get them to fall in love...working on that one.

Anyway I had quit playing the sims because of all of the problems with the game and now they finally got it updated and the new pets, which are just adorable. No problems with the game and bugs now.  Went on vacation and all was well and now my two beautiful cats were at home waiting for me.

I did the same thing.  I didn't think I would care for horses until I played with one and now I love them.  I've played with the horses more than any of the other pets.  All the pets, though, are very realistic and absolutely adorable.

I love the fact that you can scatter the hay bales for the horses and that they will drink out of the ponds.  That is a really nice touch.

I didn't notice the preview lot function.  That would be very handy.

I was reading about the list of traits on another site that someone posted here somewhere, and planning all the traits I'd add to my pets. Until I opened it up (just installed, yay!!!) and discovered they only get three :( My dog is so many more than 3 traits (Friendly, plus a whole heep of the bad ones)

Chuckles - if you check some of the other threads, it is possible to train certain traits so that your pet ends up with more than 3.  My last played game had a cat with 7 traits and I'm fairly certain he was about to get an 8th when the game crashed.

Ahhh, awesome. I don't especially want to train my dog to be destructive, but well, for reality's sake...
