I'm beginning to like ti idea of buying Pets but I have a few questions:
-excluding the pets themselves, what kind of fun things have been added? Clothes and hairstyles don't concern me.
-do stray pets swarm the lots like they did in Sims 2?  It was really annoying :/
-can pets do something on their own or do I have to tell them what to do like with a normal sim?
-why are dogs 200% better than cats? (because I say so! :P)

It's kind of funny because I don't have Pets right now but my Sim can cook animal food after applying patch 1.26 XD

Strays do not swarm your lot.  I don't think I've seen more than one at a time and I don't see one every day either.

Sims and Pets have separate settings for autonomy.  For me, I like running my Sims at low autonomy but my pets at high autonomy.  They do lots of things on their own.  But you can control them like any sim.  I generally leave my pets to their own devices unless I want them to hunt or sniff out a collectible.

:)No strays don't do that like in sims2 and you have full control over the pets just like any sim

Other fun things? Well, there's the ice cream truck. But the pets are about 10 times more fun than the ones in Sims 2. I've had this EP  since it first came out, and still feel like I've only scratched the surface.

Yeah - finally got Pets.  <<happy dance>>

I got a stray cat on my first night and have not seen it again.  I get the racoon a lot though.  I befriended a Falcon so I called him Ford, a cockatoo I named Major Mitchell (I know its the wrong colour but I couldn't resist) and a Macaw I just had to name Quickdraw.  I love this EP and I have no trouble selling the minor pets I find but don't want.  When I get the money together, I going to buy that big lot and build a huge place and fill it full of birds.

Can anyone tell me what are those little brown humps that appear around the countryside?  Are the womrat holes or something else that's brown and used to fertilize plants?

ha, I named my falcon Ford too  ;D

The little brown spots are where dogs can dig things up, but they have to have hunting skill to do it.

I know Pam has declared this off-topic already, but to close the issue I'd like to direct you to this guide article on roofing techniques. If you'd like an introduction on roofs, try here. There's plenty of information around the guide and forum, you just have to be willing to search for it.  :)
