Can't find Pet Store.

I hate being the one to bring a bug to attention. But I just opened my Dynasty file to make a cat for my girl, placed the 4 new lots than went back into Edit Town to try and find the pet store. Couldn't find it, so I minimized it, opened the email, registered my game on the main site and it said download the free content. So I tried, and it failed. So I thought it was cause the game was open, I quit and tried again and it failed again. So hopefully I can get her a cat on the phone, I haven't tried that one yet. GRR.

You can go to Edit Town, Create-A-Pet, create your cat, and then merge it's household to your sims'.

Do you mean that Pet Store from the Limited Edition, if I remember correctly then animals are not for sale there, I think it just gave you a register to build a Pet Shop that sells some goodies. I don't know if that is right but I seem to remember that.

You should be able to adopt a pet on the phone - it was likened to adopting a baby, so you might not get access to Create-A-Pet that way.

Just came from sims 3 site and the ltd edition  pet store, I think that's it, there's problems with downloading.  Something about finding it in your purchase history but people are having problems downloading it.  EA is aware and looking into it.  Bummer.

Thanks guys! I adopted one over the phone. I don't know if it's my graphics or what, but the cat looks plain weird. Not like a real cat. Maybe cause it's adopted? I didn't even think of going into Edit Town and creating one! Thanks for the tip Naga!

I don't now if this is your problem but it seems that there are some graphics cards that are having issues with Pets.

Darn. I looked at that post, than looked at my graphic card and it is the first one mentioned. So I guess I will have to deal with my pets looking weird. At least I know what the problem is now though. Thanks RunAmok!

Esther, about the Pet Stpre you couldn't find: Vamp has opend a topic in the Pet section about how to properly install it. I don't have the game yet, so I couldn't try that method mself, but after reading it: it looks really helpful. You should check it out.

What are all the ways to get a pet in an already existing save file?

You can use the phone or paper to adopt a pet.  If it's not a challenge file, you can go into edit town and make a pet then merge it with your family.  Wild animals should start appearing so that's your access to rare turtles, birds, snakes, rodents.  You can also buy a bird cage/terrarium and get a very common pet just like a fish bowl.

Not a mod but I thought the topic was "Can't find Pet Store"?  Hoping for an answer to that question.  Mine downloaded just fine but can't find it anywhere except in "downloads" in the launcher and in my files.  Is it just a register or is it an actual building?

@Joria — the bottom line is there is no pet store. I think a lot of players (myself included) assumed there would be one.
