Haha, of course I'm still going to buy this game! Don't get me wrong - I love the sims. I'm just saying if things go wrong, they could go wrong spectacularly.

If I know EA as well as I hope I do, they won't force you to completely micro-manage every little step your sim takes on his/her job. The normal game for example could become really micro-managing if you concentrate on governing one sim at the time, but the developers still kept the option of just leaving them by themselves and become like a drama show.

If they would implement too hard involvement from the player's side, it could very well destroy the game for many, but I like to believe that the developers can spot these responses from the players and try to make the EP accordingly so that it doesn't completely change the game. That's usually up to the last EP with magic included to do! ;D

If you've got some Sims 3 chops, which most of us do, I can't imagine the career micromanaging of Ambitions resulting in a game-breaker. As long as you can kick your Sims out the door with all bars fully green, then what could possibly be a concern? Now, if you're constantly bombarded with messages requiring you to do this and that with your career Sim, then yeah, that could get tedious. We'll just have to wait and see.
My comments were directed more towards the issue that pops up when you constantly play with free will on as I do.  Moving a sim through a dungeon while on vacation pretty much means that you'll be focusing on one sim at a time as dungeoneering requires high order directed actions to perform successfully.  Moving two sims through separate quests while one or both are in a dungeon creates a hideous amount of "screen sliding" that is not fun to endure.  Mainly this is because my monitor is good enough to give me mild motion sickness when the screen shifts from one sim to another by sliding the map at high speed to the other side of the town.

If work in Ambitions requires the level of micromanaging that dungeoneering requires, that will probably pretty much do it for me and working away from the house.  I can multitask 8 sims while they are on the same home lot reasonably effectively by queueing up as many medium to long term events as needed (gardening, working out, fishing, skilling up, etc.), but once you have to start screen sliding to take care of sims on the other side of the map that's where things get to be a hassle.

Sometimes I just let free will run a sim that I don't have time for.  Unfortunately, the autonomy in the game leaves much to be desired.  A programmed routine that has the sim try to accomplish any of the locked in wants would be a joy to behold, but as it is now, it seems like my sims just run amok and cause problems for me to fix.  I could turn the autonomy off, but then I'd probably forget someone and they would starve.  :-[

If we get to control how our Sims work, that seems to point towards us being able to see inside, then Sims might get Lunch Hours and chat with co-workers, we might not get to do that, we might have more options like 'Work Hard, Business as Usual' etc.

I want to be a Ghostbuster. That looks so amazing!

Although it'll be nice to control Sims at work, I don't think I'd cope with controlling two Sims on the job, so I'd prefer it if the original careers remained 'hidden' workplaces and the ones from this expansion be the hands on controllable ones. I wonder if any new careers in future expansions (yes, I'm very much looking to the future here lol) will be fully controllable, or whether they'll be like the current ones. Hopefully with an EP dedicated to controllable careers they'll run pretty smoothly, but future EPs won't have careers as their main emphasis, so would they add more in this vein?

I'm the exact same way.  I've maybe been to Egypt 3 times and that's all I've done with WA, because I can't deal with controlling my Sims how I want to.  But, being that we have 2 towns to play in, I may be switching back and forth to Riverdale so I can play this new EP Ambitions.  I'm really excited about it.

If I'm not saying Riverdale, then I'm saying Sunnydale.  One of them is a town on Buffy, ain't it?  LOL

Sim Spike <3

Which does make me wonder...with WA we got mummies, we've always had ghosts, will there be any supernatural characters added? With Sims2 they added something new to be with each EP: vampire, werewolf, PlantSim, Zombie etc.

I loved the genie lol and I'm sure Sims1 started the pattern with adding something supernatural with each expansion?

Nah, Sarah. There were some EPs to Sims 1 that didn't add anything supernatural. For example, I'm having a hard time remembering something supernatural about Unleashed or Superstar.

However, I think that EA saw that adding one of these Easter eggs with each EP to Sims 2 actually raised the sales of them, so it would absolutely not surprise me if they're adding something for each EP to Sims 3.

I suppose in Superstar the supernatural thing was replaced with there being actual celebrities in the game; but yes, you're right about unleashed not having any supernatural things in it.
