That is a marvelously well done video!  May not depict actual gameplay, but an awesome video nonetheless.  :D

"All the professions in the expansion (except Doctor) are new to the franchise, but older jobs will unfortunately remain hands-off for players." That's a good thing I think! I've gotten able to have more than one sim, and I like being able to send one or two to work while I focus on the others. I'll probably have to start back with only one until I get good at ambitions the way I have with WA!

Well, that is what a lot of people thought will be the problem (is that line grammatically correct?): they were afraid that they can't handle a whole bunch of sims when they are at their work (the new follow-sims-non-rabbit-holes I mean). But I think EA has already over-thought that. Maybe they put a sort of planning in the game. Like an agenda.
The way I work though is letting all the sims call service after they have their jobs done (which could be a payed job, skill training or simply fulfilling their needs or wishes). That way I can let a lot of sims in the household work for themselves without me having to play big brother all the time. Once they're done, I notice a service call and give them new orders to do.
I think that way you could also work in Ambitions with multiple sims.
Besides that: not every new jobs requires a working place outside of your home. I thought (but correct me if I'm wrong) that inventors and sculptors can work at home though. So that way you don't have to pan through the whole town all the time, which will require a lot of processor power.

According to EA, every job, even the ones that demand sitting behind a desk all day long, will be exciting with this add on.

which is the truth? I wonder will there be no change to most old jobs, or will they change too? Not sure which statement to trust. I guess I'll find out when I buy it. Can't wait.

Pallyndrome, I personally choose to trust the first statement as I have read something quite similar on the main Sims 3 web-site.  I don't know where the second quote originated, but it just does not jive with what we have heard from EA.

They can be both true in my opinion. Because I don't know what they exactly mean with the line I posted early (it was a translation). Although the old jobs will be remain hands-off for the players (except for doctor) they probably have done something to the original as well. They will remain rabbit holes, if I am correct. But as I said before: I am not really sure what they mean with this line: 'According to EA, every job, even the ones that demand sitting behind a desk all day long, will be exciting with this add on.' I think we just need to read it literally.

Well, there may be jobs introduced in Ambitions that include you sitting by a desk. That way, both statements are completely correct and it doesn't imply that the old jobs have been changed.

Just got an email from EA about pre-order for Ambitions.  On part of the advertisement it listed the new Ambition careers that we already know about and then it said AND MORE!  Of course they do that just to make us curious, but I suppose it worked because now I really want to know what AND MORE could possibly mean!  Either way, I'm sure there are going to be plenty of fun surprises in the expansion because there always is. :)

Eh, y'all know the luck for these things. The release-date for Ambitions in Sweden was post-poned to 3/6. :(
That's Murphy's law for ya'! :'(

Practically speaking, I can't reveal any details on this prematurely to you folks as I'd hoped.

I have it preordered already got $20 off so awesome price. I paid $21.70 including tax and according to the order email I saved $26.99 so I saved more than I paid. But I ordered 3. One for myself, one for my sister, and one for my brother-in-law but they are all coming to my house. LOL! I don't know when I will get it for sure though!

And here we go with new info about the Sims 3 Ambitions!!!

Although, I believe it is new info. If it's not, at least it is new for me. :D So, if it is already here somewhere than well, all I can do next is to get down on my knees and beg for forgiveness.
I found a site that has an exclusive new preview of Ambitions with a lot of information about the new careers and abilities. I will cover some stuff here.
Every job has a description, except for the fireman, because all the info I got about that job was already included in this topic. So here we go, sit down, read, be quiet and get thrilled:

ARCHITECTOR
The architector career doesn't have a building to work in. To find clients, you need to use the map and look for a red and yellow symbol level which will be floating over their houses.
It is recommended to know your clients better because that will help you gain a special bonus.
The renovation mode displays the traits of the client (which will be esential for your design), it shows also your budget, and the absolutely essential items that are required in the renovation.
You can even use items from your own inventory, including photos, paintings or even collectible objects like gems to give the house your own touch.
After your job is done you will get feedback from your client. Feedback depends on how well you did your job and how well you fill the criteria. And that determines how much they decide to pay you.

PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR
You choose which case you like to investigate and you can only investigate one case at a time. You can choose to cooperate with the police or simply work by yourself.
To solve the case you can rummage through the trash, look though someone's mail, search inside of the bush or even break into someone's house and steal some things as evidence, like that flatscreen tv that you always wanted.
If you dislike someone you can search for compromising information to blackmail that particular sim. ;)

STYLIST
As a stylist you can edit some clothes, makeup and hair style.
To edit this the Create a Sim will open up where you can edit the sims appearance.
You cannot edit the sims physical appearance, only clothes, hair and accessoiries.

DOCTOR
You still work at the hospital, which is curently still a rabit hole. But the career really takes place outside of the hospital.
You'll be able to save sims from choking, give out free vaccines and test new drugs on sims, which will comes with hilarious side effects.

GHOST HUNTER
The ghosts that you will hunt are actually not real sims ghosts. They are just floating spirits. Perhaps this is done to increase the game performance.
The gun that you use to collect the ghost is sort of a vacuum thing because it sucks the ghost in. Then you can display the ghost in your house inside of a bowl.
Like other collectibles you can name the ghost, set it free or sell it to the Science building.

INVENTOR
Becoming an inventor is actually not really a career but a new ability. This means that inventing is a skill and therefore has 10 levels.
You can create a wide varity of items using the new workbench.
You can in the end build high tech objects like the timemachine. Visiting the local junkyard you can find items you may need for your inventions.
A very interesting object that you can invent is the Driller. With this you can dig tunnels in the town, choosing where you like to start and where you will to end. It is essential teleporting your sim around. This even includes adding a tunnel under the police station to break your sims out of jail.
(I've read your topic about how you hate being in jail Swede, so you can now quietly jump in the air of happiness. ;))

So, as happy as Swede would be, so disappointed am I with the following information:

The time machine unfortunately does not allow travel backward or forward in time, just our sim and we do not see anything except for the time machine moving around a bit and your sim will come out with a new outfit and object in your inventory.
So let's just hope we can at least woohoo in it. Otherwise it will almost be useless, except for story tellers.

SCULPTOR
Just like the inventor sculptor is not a career. It is however a skill.
While sculpting you can use a variety of materials including metal, wood, clay and ice.
How the sculptures looks is based on the sim's pose.

TATTOOIST
Tattooing is not a new carreer but just a new ability within the game.
To get tattoos, you can either apply them in Create-a-Sim or go down to the local salon.
Once your sim gets a tattoo, that tattoo can never be removed, so you better know what design you like.

And that's it for today fellow members. Have a good day.

See ya!

And a link to two video's providing new information. One is in Dutch. Sorry guy's. :( But he, you still can watch moving video! :D

http://www.sims3nieuws.nl/2010/05/24/s3ns-ambities-preview-twee-videos/

Mention the Dutch guy talking in the first video. On youtube I've adviced him in his previous video to talk a bit slower, because I could hardly understand him (even though I am Dutch myself). So now he desided to speak really slow. :P
