What do you like about the Sims 3.
« on: October 17, 2011, 05:31:03 AM »
We have talked about what annoys us and what we want to see in the future but what do we like about the Sims 3.

I love the interactions between children and toddlers.
I like the mix of personalities in the townies they are not all one dimensional.
I love that despite the fact that we mostly all play the same characters no game is ever the same.
I love being able to leave the house with my Sims and interact with the other townies.
The possibilities for game play are almost endless.

I like that we can make a multitude of Sims, all very unique.

I love how random Story Progression can be... it does some bizarre things sometimes, and makes me laugh. For example, Yumi Sekemoto once got engaged to Ethan Bunch.

I also love story progression. Sometimes it's so funny. I have to say that I love the building mechanics. They really gave us a multitude of options. But I think my favorite part would have to be the trait specific animations. I get a kick out of many of them, like how Inappropriate people laugh at birthday parties and Cowards faint at everything.

I love the endless randomness of Story Progression. I mean, without Story Progression, what wouldn't we have? Antone Dreamweaver, beautiful Dynasty heirs, interesting genetics...

Nice thread, Rachel. I guess for me the biggest thing is the Sims is a vehicle for my creativity. I rarely, if ever, play just for the heck of it. But, creating the Dynasties and challenges for the Tournament is lots of fun and those events force me and everyone involved to play in unique ways, so that whole process stretches my creativity. The other big thing for me and another outlet for my creative side is the writing aspect for the Guide and Dynasties. It's a green light to let my inner 3rd grade boy out of the cage every now and then and just go absolutely crazy.

Like a lot of people have already said, I love that every sims personality's different; no two sims will never be the same.

I also love the thrill of when a sim ages up and you get to see what they look like.

I like completing challenges. I love being able to max and super-max skills, and collecting. Making the 'perfect' sim. And then, once I've done that, making the 'perfect' sim in the least amount of time. And then, once I've done that, turning to the challenge board.
Of course, building is my favourite. I don't often play the houses I build. I play-test them, but that is about it. Although, I do have a really nice world that is nearly done. I think I'll definitely play that for a while.

Me too. Whenever a sim ages up I drag them over to a mirror right away (regardless of whether or not they are in the middle of a party!) and have a good look at them. I always try to figure out which parent they take after in terms of genes. I then spend ages getting the hair and clothes just right.

I enjoy the different personalities and story progression. They make writing about the Sims more fun. I also enjoy the various challenges and making up my own challenges.

My favorite thing about the Sims 3 has always been story progression.  I love how the Sims in the towns will interact with each other and the rest of the world without the slightest bit of interference on your part.  The game feels alive.

I also get a kick out of the little quirks built into each individual traits.  It's more than just the idle animations...I love how most have unique interactions with their world.

I love the story progression with the autonomous will at high. My sims have often surprised me many times when I wasn't looking.

I think the thing I love the most about TS3 is the ability to create the perfect home for my Sims - it is a way to be creative.  The building requests I've done and the building contests keep pushing me to improve and broaden my horizons beyond 4 walls and a roof.

My next favorite thing is watching Sims age from nooboo through young adult.  Each age in between is so different from the previous one that it's like getting to unwrap a present when your Sim ages up...you never know what you're gonna get.

I also love story progression and free will.  Those two game mechanics take what could be a very repetetive experience and turn it into something new and different each time.

Last, but not least, although this isn't a feature of TS3 per se, I love that the game brought me to this community.

The possibilities for game play are almost endless.

My #1 reason, right there.

I also love that the game can make what might seem like a boring or unlikable sim into an interesting, dynamic one.  It's always trying to get you to stretch and try something new.  Even if I accomplished everything in the game, there's no way I could remember all I'd done, and I'd have to start over again.

I also love that TS3 is so versatile.  I can just make sims, or I can just build, or I can play challenges, or I can play young sims that never age, or multi-generational families.  I can make things as bizarre or realistic as I like.  For me, the mundane daily stuff like caring for a garden and finding time to sit and write for a few minutes are the part of the game I'm most drawn to.  I love that I can turn lifespan to epic and enjoy those things and still accomplish just as much in a sim's lifetime.
