Pathing Issues With Stairs

Two of my Sims moved into this really big house, but they need to go up a bunch of stars to get to the front door. They always complain that there's something in their way when they try to go up the starirs, so I have to manually choose "Use Stairs" so they can get in and out of their house. It's really annoying, does anyone know a way to fix it?

I had this happen to me at queen hapeshut's tomb in Egypt.

My thought is removing the stairs and put them back in.
