Quiting and entering other branch
« on: October 13, 2011, 07:03:49 PM »
First of all, if you quit at level 10, what level of a career will you be at if you rejoin the career?
And I have another question but it depends on the answer to this one.

If you rejoin immediately after you quit, you don't lose much progress.  The longer you wait to join again, the lower level you will start at.

Okay. So say you quit and then rejoin a career that has two separate branches. Will it automatically put you on the branch that you were previously at or will it let you choose the branch?

My Sims have always restarted a career at level 5, which happens to be the level right before you have to decide on a branch.

Okay thanks!
@Audren: when did you last try this?

Not recently. Pam is probably more accurate than I in this matter.

Okay I was assuming that it may have been changed in a patch.

I didn't clarify that my Sim was at level 10 and quit, then restarted at level 5.  This is not set in stone, of course.  But I don't think you'll ever restart high enough in a career to miss the choice for the branch.

I assumed that's what you meant.
And that's exactly what I had hoped. Thanks!

If you quit and enter the other branch, the first branch disappears from your career history.  Does this mean you will lose any special unlocked abilities associated with that branch?  For example, if you reached level 10 as a director first and then wanted to become a superstar actor, would you still be able to write screenplays?

Yes.  Screenplays are only for active directors.  Just like the red glow of the Emperor of Evil.  If you're not currently holding that job, you cannot keep the glow.

You don't start over when you quit a career?  I always thought you did ( At least you did in The Sims).  I guess I never tried it.

I welcome suggestions and constructive criticism about any of my builds on their threads.

EA tuning default is to rehire you at 50% the career level you had prior to quitting.

If that new level is high enough to stay within the branch you were originally part of, you will retain that branch.  Otherwise you are dropped back to a level prior to the branching.
