I want to brace you all for some potential very bad news.  All of my generation 4 files for this DecaDynasty are corrupt beyond repair.  My last hope is for the game's restored backup save to work.  If this doesn't work, my last good file is probably from when Godiva was still living at home.  I'll let everyone know the result as soon as I know.

Oh no Pam I know exactly how it feels to be in this situation. Would a move to another town help matters.

I thought about that, ratchie, but a move to another town is only allowed at the time that the heir is ready to move out of the house.  Plus, I don't know if the file will even load at all.

In certain circumstances we allow a move at other times.

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind. 

I've had a successful test where I loaded the game file, played a few things, then saved and quit.  I didn't get any errors or anything, so I think maybe it saved correctly.  I'll have to play a couple of days again, but that's a small price to pay to have my file back in working order.

In some of my files, I've had to get into the habit of saving almost every Simhour just to make sure it doesn't crash on me, so I can definitely feel your pain that way, but I can't imagine how much harder that must be with a story so many generations in and so many hours of loving care devoted to it!  Sending much love and support your way, Pam!

I kind of feel your pain, as it was earlier. My Immortal Dynasty, as my mammaw calls it,  kind of went "KAPOOIE!" I'm not going to get off topic, but best of luck with recovering everything!

I really hope you can get your file sorted out (Again) some time soon. I love your stories and would hate to see this one go now.

I'm immensely relieved that I was able to get my file working again!  So far, it has saved with no problem after I deleted the "bad" files and restored the game's backup.  I'm working on an update and hope to post it tomorrow.
