Can't Play my Sims after I enter Edit Town

I've totally re-made Twinbrook for my Legacy, one small bit at a time. I have things from the Swap Shop and things I've built but when I decided to build a church, when I went back to play my Sims it said that there were no Sims on the lot when really I had 6!! I was going to move the family to a new town but I can't as my game thinks there are no Sims in the house when I enter Edit Town.

I have a earlier file before the Church but is there a way I can safe this game and use Edit Town? Or should I just save each Sim individually and create a new household?

While in Edit Town, you should be able to save the church lot to the bin. Then exit the game without saving and restart. If the family is fine try going into Edit Town and placing the church lot from the bin onto the lot where you built it originally. By saving the church lot to the bin you can place it into your game file without having to rebuild it.

I have already tried that but I still can't play them. Thank you for the thought though.

Did you use anything unusual when rebuilding the town?  Specifically the church?  I was going to suggest the same thing as lilygirl.  Did you go into the previous save where the family was still intact and try placing the church there?  Maybe experiment with the church in other save files to see if the same thing happens.  If it does, I'd say there's something technically corrupt with the church itself.

I'll try that but the only possible thing that could be corrupt is the chairs in the actually church part. They are from the store.

The chairs should be fine if you purchased them from the official Sims 3 Store.

Tried that and it didn't corrupt my other game. Thank you for the idea though Pam.

If I have to I can save each Sim individually and move them to another town.

EDIT: If this helps, before I was caught by the bug I had just added Subways, the vitality fitness centre gym, my lounge and two hangouts. (All this was from the Swap Shop except for the Subway)
