I just hope that the stray pets in the town don't congregate at the front of the lot you're playing and create lots of puddles like in Sims 2.  I remember buying a fire hydrant at the start of each game just so I wouldn't have to have my sim spend time cleaning up messes. lol

Since when were you such a cynic, leto?
I'm just kidding. I didn't notice that at first, but now that you pointed it out i totally agree.

Hm, I wasn't meant to be cynic, but I see now that my text indeed can be read that way.

There are colllectible pets?

Wauw! I think this either expand the collection skill, or it will be a totol new skill. I thought to know that horse riding will be a new skill, but maybe Collecting Pets will be one too.

♦ Can we take a dead pet and make it a controllable pet by visiting the Science Facility (or similar method)?
Yep!

I'm not a animal cruelty boy, but now I'm actually looking forward to a Unicorn Ghost. Combine the powers of unicorns with that of ghosts and you can have a very powerful controllable character. :)

Actually, it's considered a good business practice if you can never say "no" to anyone.  It takes some creative thinking and writing sometimes, but it can be quite effective when dealing with customers, both internal and external.

I know. And I'm glad to see that EA is using it here in a good way.
You also can use it to avoid the question or confuse the costomer, which they didn't here, fortuniatly.

So, after reading all this info I see a bit of strategy coming together in this game according to adding pets in your household.
With sims you could specify some in being the money makers (writing painting, or having a job), others as the food preparations (cooking, gardening and or fishing skill), another in collecting stuff and another in improving the household (cleaning and reparing things).

Now with pets I see at least that you can train and (perhaps/hopefully) breed a dog to be the ultimate collector in gems, metals, animals and whatever more.
And a horse can be trained or even breed into a money maker, with jumping and all that stuff, compared with a high skilled riding sim.
Now I can't wait to see where we can train the cats for. :)

One question I haven't seen here: can animals have hidden skills and or traits?
I assume at least the unicorn can, by setting things on fire without destroying stuff.

I also wonder if animals can be famous, when Late Night is installed. I guess not, but who knows. :)

Cats' skill is hunting. It's them who find the stray small pets for you, such as chameleons, lizards, snakes, rodents...

Nice. So cats and dogs can both fulfill the same 'function.' They both can hunt and it can be practical they both hunt so as a gamer you can choose which one you want though I hope cats and dogs also differ in their abilities.
Like unique abilities for cats and unique abilities for dogs.

Yeah sorry Vamp. As far as I know it indeed won't. That's what you get with hidden traits, as I think we can see that ability that way.

I actually think that dogs' hunting skill is actually treasure finding, like sniffing for stuff and then digging them up so that sims may collect it. Cats hunt solo, and bring the prey/small-pet back to the sim.

Wow, that is a really nice picture Vamp! Where'd you find it?

I think you're right, Naga. I think in the first post it said something like dogs could find collectible pieces that sims could assemble. I actually hope it's like this, because I wouldn't want both types to be able to do both things. That way it encourages getting all types.
