Ok, so you know how a sim can use their phone to memorise a scene, then paint it? Is it possible to edit the file that the sim has memorised and replace it with
any picture? I'm trying to come up with creative, yet feasible ideas of getting custom paintings into my game without too much CC.
EDIT: ok, after some research I discovered that this was actually something you could do in Sims 2 (though I was never interested in paintings much until now), but you can't do it in Sims3. There is a long and complicated way of replacing existing paintings that they do, but it involves modding tools
So if anyone sees my request in the swap shop thread, and is capable of making recolourable blank canvases from the in-game paintings, I think you would go down as legendary in the entire sims 3 community.
EDIT: Aha! I have it! Download or create your custom pattern (ehem, picture). Paint your wall/floor with it. Now have your skilled painter sim take a still life of your custom pattern!!!
Here is a pattern I downloaded from another custom content site, as a photo, and as a painting. My sim's artistic streak was coming out, so photos may be the better option. If you can get your sim to paint a fairly clear picture, then paintings may give you a better angle for the still life, as you have better camera rotation.
Here is another one I did with CaP (my first one! Turns out Roxio Picture Thingy is not too bad). It's not as clear as the original - it's a picture of a picture of a picture... so it's bound to lose some detail, but on the whole I think it still looks alright - and when matched with the right other pictures and furniture...
