I wanted my sim to marry one of the goths, so I controlled the Goth family for a day. When I came back my male sim was dating another male. I didn't know that they could do that. I think they were engaged.

That has happened to me.  I moved a girl in with this guy, looked in her relationships and she was romantically interested in two women, both elderly.

This is really interesting and is obviously a reflection of the game developers' take on real life. They would never have put same sex romantic interests in the original game 10 years ago.

Why wouldn't they? (I was 3, 10 years ago!) I don't often experience these things due to not playing a game long enough (Story Progression Romances). I really want my Generation 2 family spares to have kids and marry, etc.

They probably weren't concerned with it at the time. Now, because of all the drama about same sex marriage, they added it.

EDIT: Now that i recall it, one of the commercial ads for either that expansion or the sims 1 had 2 gay men on it.

Really?! Well, that's news to me. And I played a lot of Sims 1. Of course, it would never enter my mind in a thousand years to even go that route, so I guess I'm not surprised I didn't think it existed.

Yeah, I was about to say, Sims 1 does have same sex romance.  My brother's GF is playing and apparently me and her are married.  She's an odd one.

ETA:  not that same sex love is weird, but that my future SIL would have her Sim resembling and named Lacey would be married to her Sim resembling and named Kim.

I know this is a glitch, but when my 2 sims were married (it was my sims daughter and another girl) the option to try for child came up and they actually had one. That's weird.
