Exercise/Gym bug -- It's fixed!
« on: February 27, 2010, 02:15:12 PM »
Does anyone know if the exercise/gym bug has ben fixed in a EA patch? I don't remember reading if it had or not. I'm talking about the issue where working out at the gym actually does not boost athletic skill vs. working out on your home lot. Thanks.

One of the patches was supposed to fix it but I have not tested it to find out if it did or not.

Thanks, Wild. I guess I'll just test it myself and report back.

------

EDIT: Sheesh. Fit Atmosphere? NOT! I'm glad I did this little test before the next challenge started. These results are with a non-Athletic Sim:

Time to obtain 1st Athletic skill level on home lot — 1 hr, 27 minutes
Time to obtain 1st Athletic skill level in gym — 2 hrs, 55 minutes!!!

Ouch!  Guess my sims will be exercising at home for this upcoming challenge.  Thanks for running your test.

Tsk, tsk, and i had hoped they'd had it fixed on a previous patch.

Anyways, the old bug was that in the xml that controlled fit atmosphere's multiplier, it had "0,5" instead of the rightful "2" like the library buff does. It seems they haven't changed it.

Yeah, it stinks. Things are tight with Sims just starting out in a challenge. Coughing up an extra 1k simoleans for an exercise machine instead of going to the gym for free is a tough decision when every second counts.

Can't you just use the tv? It gives fun as well when no one needs it for excercise.

True. But, if we're talking about a married couple, then they don't need a TV for fun. Woo Hoo is pretty amazing for that. And so quick.

I thought the TV was slower at building up athletics than the machines.. hmm, this may warrant a test.

To Be Honest the only time I use the Gym is if I am too poor to afford the Equipment or If I don't have a shower!  ;D That is interesting on the times though, You would have thought it would be the other way around.

...You would have thought it would be the other way around.

It's supposed to be. Or at least the at home time that I found is correct, and a proper gym time would be faster than that. Similar to how reading works at the library.

Does anyone know how much the library actually speeds up your reading time? For example, it might be x2 or x3.5 speed.

According to Mr. Wizard further up, the library is set at 2.0, which makes me think that it's twice normal speed.  Don't know for sure, though.

That would seem to make sense, 2.0 being 2x as fast.
