Random Pole
« on: September 25, 2011, 07:06:54 AM »
I noticed this strange pole in my sim's garage, but I have no idea how it got there. I can't click on it or delete it. It doesn't pose any problems, I'm just curious where it came from. Picture:

Every once in a while, I will come across something like that, I have no idea how it got there.  I tried everything to remove it, although I didn't try the testingcheats, delete.  If you remove gates, sometimes they will leave two poles where the gate was and you cannot remove it. :)

@Pally - That pole may be part of the garage door that was left behind either from moving or deleting it.  If you moved the door there first even by accident then moved it to where it should actually go, they sometimes leave that pole which may be the side of the garage door.  This also happens when deleting a gate. I have added gates then decided to change them and after deleting it leaves those poles.

What I did to remove them - I added a wall through them, then deleted the wall,  and the poles deleted along with the wall.

Putting a wall through it and deleting it didn't help. Oh well, at least now I have an idea where it came from. Thanks :)

Oh that's to bad Pally, odd things like this are so irritating - I never had the pole from the garage door (I'm assuming that's where it came from) but many times I had them from the gate.  I also did have MoveObjects on when I did the wall thing.  Sorry I wish it worked for you.:(

moveobjects on didn't work either. But I'm not that worried about it Jancy, thanks for your concern. I don't look in the garage very often anyway. :)

Sometimes I get stuff like that in other applications. To fix it, I just scroll over it and the back to where I want to be. Does that work?
Try moving an object over it (like the door), then putting the door back. Does that work?

I'm glad I read this post as it took me a little while to figure out how to remove it but yes, you can do that, fortuniatly. :)

All you need to do is place the garage door somewhere else for a little while, as you need to drag a wall over the pole. You don't even have to place it, but just dragging over it will remove the pole completely.

Yes, it was indead that simple. Strange huh? :)

Leto, as I said above, I already tried dragging a wall through it, to no effect.

Have you moved a gate (specifically the electronic one for celebrities) or the garage door with "moveobjects on" active, and placed it where there is no wall?  Typically, I see this occasionally when I'm moving that gate in particular around.  This one looks different from the one I usually see, so it's possible that it might be part of the garage door that is left over from such a move.

It should be easy to get rid of though:

Step 1:  Remove the garage door in front of the pole.  Either delete it or move it to any other wall temporarily.
Step 2:  Build a single section of wall next to the pole so that the edge touches it.  The pole should disappear.
Step 3:  Using the sledgehammer tool, demolish the wall section you just built.  Undo will not remove the pole:  it must be demolished.  This will cost your Sims $14, from the depreciated value of the wall section.

The pole should now be gone, and you can replace the garage door.
