Charismatic Trait
« on: September 15, 2011, 05:41:58 AM »
Hi.
This is just a little tidbit I picked up while playing the Hobos to Heroes Race. Charismatic actually works like the Never Dull LTR - you will never bore another sim. Your sim can, quite litterally, tell 400 jokes in a row and the other sim will never go "Sim A thinks Sim B is being boring". They will hang on to your every word.
The Charismatic Section of the traits guide mentions no such bonus. Also, the Never Dull LTR section never mentions that it is virtually rendered redundant with the Charismatic trait.
I can confirm the above. My Dynasty Founder (No LTR's yet) just told Agnes Crumplebottom about 36 jokes in a row. No boring-ness.
Now if only I could never bore people in RL...

I can honestly say I've never found you the least bit boring, Seabody!  Of course, maybe that's because I've never heard any of your jokes ...  ;D

But that's good information about the Charismatic trait and the Never Dull LTR.  Nice to know we don't need both.

Oh, well now I feel silly for getting all my Charismatic sims the Never Dull LTR. ;D Thanks for that info, Seabody, I'll know not to now! :)

The Charismatic trait is good for joking, telling stories, etc.; but, if you tell a secret sometimes you give the "boring moodlet" or the mad "minus red bars" to the other person.

So you can still be boring sometimes, even if you're Charismatic, but not if you're also "Never Dull". So it's kind if like insurance on a smooth conversation, but not necessary. Especially if your making your Sim repeat a lot of social interactions to build a friendship in one day.
Check out my app "Equestrian Center - Horse Guide for The Sims 3:Pets" for iPhone and iPad. Everything you need to know to adopt, befriend, train, breed, and sell your horses. All about Unicorns too! http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/equestrian-center-horse-guide/id482247698?mt=8&uo=4

Where possible, the best way to build friendships fast is to enthuse about something that the other sim likes. Easy ones are bookworms (if you catch them reading you have 3 or 4 different interactions all about books) and people in the business career. You get ++ each time you do that. If your sims share a trait, there is often the option to enthuse about the related topic (enthuse about music; art etc).

I agree Chuckles. And with the charismatic trait you have more options to enthuse about this and that. The problem with "tell a secret" is sometimes they backfire, so I avoid that one at all costs.
