Do you talk to your Sims?
« on: September 12, 2011, 05:26:45 AM »
I tend to talk to my Sims while I play and I'm not even that chatty normally. Not like I expect them to answer but for example when they get up and ignores that they should eat, shower and such before going to work and instead instead reads a book, watches TV or something more fun. I sit there chatting to them while I queue up eating, showering and so on for them. "Sweetie you have to eat, shower and use the bathroom first, then you can read your book, okey?" *clicks some more*
Or when they keep putting their toddler in the crib for no apparent reason, "leave him/her be, just give a bottle and go and do something else"or when they want to snuggle their poor toddler that finally fallen asleep "Let him/her sleep, just go and entertain yourself something else" *cancels actions and queue up a couple of other ones to keep them occupied*
Does anyone else do this?

Often. I also scream at them. Like:
"You're late for work, about to be fired, and what do you do? Go for a swim!"
If my sims are being particularly good though, I find myself saying things like "Ok, do that... yes... Ambrosia!!" Or muttering "Yes... get a job... go toilet... propose  (in the bathroom)..."
I think my mother thinks I'm crazy, talking to my laptop. :P

Yes I do talk to my Sims where do you think the idea for the Voice came from. I don't always talk out loud not that telling you all that I talk to my Sims in my head is any better  ;).
I also shout at the television and argue with people on television too. In my defense I spend most of my time with people aged under seven.

Oh sure, I do!  Often, it's when the game is paused and I'm issuing instructions.  "Ok, you, go over here.  <<click>> You, tend the garden. <<click>>  You, take a shower for goodness sake, you reek!!!  Everyone set?  Ok, go!!!"  <<unpause>>  I usually play on 3x speed, so it's amusing to see them scurry at that point.

Other times it's when I make Sim A active after having dealt with Sim B and find Sim A sitting on the sofa reading some nonsense, unproductive fiction book.  "Gah, you couldn't at least find a skill book???".

I can be quite horrible to my Sims. "You look awful!" "Go get a vampirism cure...go on, what are you waiting for, you stupid Sim!"

Sure! All the time. I talk to my cat and my computer, too. The cat has so far been the most responsive, but none of them do what I tell them to :)

Yes, I talk to my sims all the time. I tell them what to do and they give me the "I-can't-get-there!" dance.  :P My mom looks at me weird and asks "You okay?" and I even get happy when they get promotions.

I'm like Seabody; I often yell at them when they drop stop doing something I tell them to do.
Or, they start flirting with some real loser, like Violet Atkins who is old as the hills, and I say "Now why would you flirt with her; when you have someone better waiting at home?".

And I especially yell, when they lose the martial arts tournament: "How could you possibly lose that match!"

Well, I yell at my computer when it crashes, because really it's only two months old it shouldn't be doing that.

I also yell at my sims when there's a fire and I tell them to put it out but they just stand there jumping up and down.

Talk to, scream at, whatever.   ;)

One phrase I use all the time is "Oh, yeah, because that's totally what I asked you to do."  You can see how useful a phrase it is.   :D

Mostly what I say is "Nooooo!" followed by "Don't put that toddler back in the crib!" or "Don't play in the sprinkler!" Sims teach me I need to develop a more positive attitude.

I do! I really do! Such examples of today's simming time are:

'Renesmee! Did I want you to start the writing skill? No! No I did not! So why did you start it then, hm? Now I need to restart!'
'Awwwww, look at you two! You have to be the sweetest sim couple ever!'
'No! No and no and no! Why can't you wait till your sister is finished in the bathroom to go in? Why? Now I need to cue up all your actions again!'
'What would you like to cook today, Lori? Hm.. Well, not pancakes, I'll tell you that. You've been cooking pancakes every day for the last fifty sim years!'

..And so on. Mum thinks I need to get my brain checked for talking to my screen. :P

It's no wonder I talk to my sims, because I talk to the appliances in the house when they beep at me ("Yes; I heard you the first time"); drivers on the road ("Stay in your own lane"); my cats ("Didn't I tell you not to do that").
So, the sims are just an extension of my ramblings!
