It's not a pun, it's a game tip. It came with LN and the Digital Fish Tank. It means "you can feed the digital fish, but it isn't necessary".

I think the game designers were making fun of themselves and us for caring so much about pixelated beings.  They're letting us know we don't need to feed the fish in the game, but they're poking fun at us because they know a lot of people will still do it anyway, even though they know it's not needed.
