Sparkle Painting

I was playing a painter sims today and zoomed in to discover there was sparkles. This may not be news to any of you, but I've never seen this before.

Does she have any LTRs or Painting Challenges completed?

Is she artistic? I am probably wrong but I thought you get that when you have the artistic trait? Or has she maxed the skill or something? Then again.. my sim has maxed the skill and doesn't get the sparkles.

She is artistic, but I've played plenty of artistic sims that don't get that sparkle when they paint.

I'm pretty sure she is:

-Artistic
-Genius
-Disciplined
-Perfectionist
-Ambitious? (I'm not sure about that one)

I'm also playing in Hidden Springs, but I don' think that could affect anything.

Sometimes my sims get the sparkles and sometimes they don't. Maybe sparkles indicate that the painting will be a higher value, like Brilliant or Masterpiece? I've never really paid much attention to it.

I just check in my game and she's a bookworm not ambitious.

Usually those appear when she has the lifetime reward, Extra Creative.  Somewhere down the line, you might have purchased that with the happiness points.  That is the only time mine ever get those, you might want to check and see.

I've seen that too, I'm not sure if I saw it before I gave them extra creative. The sim I'm mentioning did have the artistic trait.

No, she doesn't have any LTHR's. At some point when she was at level 8, she just started painting with sparkles.

Can you look and see what the painting's quality is when you see the sparkles?

Some were brilliant, some were masterpieces, but she's painted masterpieces and brilliant paintings without there being sparkles before.

I've only seen it when they complete a certain skill challenge, I think the 30 painting one.

Yes, I agree with TallStar.  The sparkles start when your Sim completes a certain skill journal challenge.  It means they're painting faster or something.
