Can teens get engaged in Ambitions ?
« on: August 28, 2011, 01:48:27 AM »
my Sim was visiting a neighbour house and while getting to know a teen Sim there I found out that he is engaged to another teen Sim ! ... I wanted to make sure so I visited the house of the other teen Sim and got to know her till I found that she is really engaged to him! ... I have played teens and got Boyfriends in ambitions but never seen an option to propose ! I always had to wait till they became YA to propose !

They cannot. You're describing a typical glitch - it can happen, like a teen going out with a YA.

Teens are not supposed to be able to get engaged.  Do you have a mod installed that would change it?

Teens cannot get engaged period. They can date and be boyfriend and girlfriend, but they can't be engaged. This sounds like a story progression glitch that happens in Sunset Valley and Twinbrook, and it happened to me with the younger Greene Sister and the Prudence Son who's dad is a teacher many times. Your best bet is to simply uninstall and reinstall your game, and turn story progression off.

Your best bet is to simply avoid story progression at all costs.

I don't know that I would recommend such an extreme measure as turning story progression off.  Even if it's a glitch that can happen at any time, it's probably not important enough to disable story progression.

If you can't let the teens re-engaged, if I say that correctly, you can also wait until they are fully grown up and than do that action.
In my opinion it would be a waste of your save file to delete it (IF you where planning such a huge action) and the same count for reinstalling the whole expansion all together.
I hope I am in time with this topic for you.

This is probably related to a somewhat rare glitch where certain adult interactions are inadvertently unlocked by teens.  Once, a long time ago, a teen sim I was playing was able to ask his girlfriend to move in with him.  She did move in (on her own...no adult moved with her), but required her own separate bed.  She wasn't able to sleep in a double bed with anyone in the household since they weren't related, and the option for them to get engaged/married didn't come up until they were both adults.

Your best bet is to simply uninstall and reinstall your game, and turn story progression off.

This is a rather extreme "fix" for a simple issue, don't you think?  I've only ever had this happen once in the entire time I've played the Sims 3, and played that particular household through several subsequent generations before abandoning it because I moved on to something else.  Most people never see something like this.  It's nowhere close to being a game breaker.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with story progression.  Those who don't use it do not do so because of any bugs...they do so out of personal preference.  But the majority of us bought Sims 3 because of story progression and have no significant problems because of it.

Hosfac: I remember that I had a similar problem (I think it was similar) where my teenage girl was asked to go to promp by some her grandpa. I thought you where the one who has explained to me this was a big bug that came with the first Generations patch, if I remember that correctly.
Is it possible this is some similar bug? I keep thinking about it every time I am reading here.

It's been awhile, but I've seen it once. Lisa Bunch and Miraj Alvi not only got engaged, they also got married while teenagers. I remember it so well because it had never happened before, and I was totally shocked. It's never happened since either. I was not controlling them at the time either.

Actually, this happened to me long before Generations was likely conceived.  I want to think that it happened to me sometime between WA and Ambitions, but from the sound of it, your situation may very well be related to the same glitch.  Generations simply added the potential for new and different "odd relationships," but it's entirely possible that the first patch made an existing problem more frequent.  However, I still haven't downloaded any Generations patch, since I have yet to hear whether or not the Photography bug was fixed.  The content provided with that patch is nowhere close to being appealing enough for me to sacrifice that skill to get it.

HOLY COW! I've never seen this one! A year ago, when WA first came out, the only weird thing I had happen was my Sim went to Egypt (she was married, husband stayed home), and when she came back to base camp I happened to look at her family tree, and it showed a child even though she only used "friendly" options with other locals, with no romantic interest, no "woohoo" at all.

I have all the expansions / add ons except Hidden Springs but frankly I'm really disappointed that EA / Origin hasn't done anything regarding these glitches. That photography camera glitch dates back to early JUNE!!! A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G!! :P

I will love him and squeeze him and pet him and call him George!!

Having a child on vacation has happened to me many times in the past. Especially if when my sim arrives, someone has just died and she mourns them (you see the miurning thought above her head); then she goes to their house and there is a child that they say she's the mother of. So, I had her interact with the kid and become friends. Her other child will have half-brother/sister in their family tree and her husband's family tree will show she has another child.

The traveling bug is actually off-topic for this thread.  It's got nothing to do with teens getting engaged.
