The Building Contests 2011/2012- Rules and Instructions

It also should be easier to read so if anyone could give feedback on how much easier the rules are to read/understand, that would be most helpful. Just a reminder for those of you who have not been reading the Contest 4 Thread. Lilygirl has already posted in the Contest 4 Thread that Pets Content is banned for the remaining time for Contest 4. This is due to Pets not being released until after the Contest Closes in some Countries. Currently Pets Content will be allowed in Contest 5, becuase most countries will have had Pets released then. If that changes we will let you know.

Hi there, I've been 'awe' (absent without explanation) for a while and have just read the rules for the Building Contests for the first time after viewing a few of the contests and the entries.  First let me congratulate/thank you and Lilygirl - congratulations on such well run and interesting contests and thank you for bringing them back. I always enjoyed viewing the old building contest thread even if I seldom participated.  Anyway, the feedback:

The rules seem clear and concise. I was only confused about the rule regarding live mode - am I right in presuming that it is okay to go into live mode to play test the building (once it has been created and saved) and to take photographs?

The other thing I noticed is that you say, on page 4:

The No Comments Rule extends to Swap Shop Threads as well as in the Entries Thread. Current Contest Swap Shop Threads have been locked. At the end of a Contest those threads will be unlocked for Comments. Any comments that have already been posted are being looked at and may or may not be removed. If anyone taking part in the Contests can now Lock their Swap Shop Threads when they post them that would be of great help.

I wondered if that should be added to the first post as maybe not everyone will read all the pages?

You are right to presume that. I had forgotten to add that to the rule as an exception. 

There are still have some tidying to do of the Rules/Instructions. Some things have changed since they were written and need adapting to the new stuff. I hope to get some of that done this week with my half term.

OK, I think I have this down right, but just to be sure can someone confirm this is what I need to do for an entry.
Once I have my house (or whatever the contest entry is) finished and saved for sharing, I start a topic on this board and title it Building Contest (whatever number) - (name of property)
In that thread I put all the details of the property with the photos plus the actual file to download. Then I lock that thread.
Then I go to the actual thread about that contest and repost the info and pics of the entry with a link to the first thread for the download.

What I don't do is list the property (in this case a house) under the houses and lots forum of the swap shop?

A question surfaced over the use of a Custom World being used to create an Entry in the Contest. In this Case there wa a particular reason for doing so which would affect the look of the Contest Entry. The matter was discussed with Carl, Pam, Lilygirl and myself. The result is a new Rule that All Entries must be built in EA Created Worlds. This does include the current Three Store Worlds: Riverview, Barnacle Bay and Hidden Springs. If you have previously built an Entry in a custom world then do not worry this will only affect current Contests.

• All entries must be built in an EA Created World. This includes Store Worlds such as Barnacle Bay, Hidden Springs, Riverview etc. If you are forced to play a Smaller Custom World for technical issues please PM samoht04.

Technical Issues: If you are experiencing issues with your game, as I know several have been as of late, where your computer is unable to handle large Worlds, therefore you are forced to be using a smaller custom World then you must PM me with the reason why, a link to the world and an image. If you do not contact me with this information then you will face disqualification.

As a side note, the Fog Emmitter, for those of you who know how to use it, is allowed as this was a question that was asked of us.

Please also note a new Thread that has been posted which will contain major announcements about the Contest. That thread will be open to questions if you wish to ask about any announcement.

The Rules have been updated to allow Union Cove as a World to build in. We would also like to let you know that including Store Content is no longer an offence, you will just be asked to remove the items.

The Contests will begin shortly. We are sorry for the delay but we had things to discuss and set up on how things will work. We've taken several comments into consideration and hope that you will like the changes.

Hopefully everyone is already powering through their Entry for the Resolutions Contest, we've already had many great entries but there is always room for more! I have an announcement to make however on a new idea we are going to be trialling. Several of you said that sometimes you don't have enough time to work on some Entries that are large projects. For that reason we are going to be running two Contests. Side by side.

Starting on the 27th of January will be a Month long Contest. This is a larger project and you can take your time more with this Contest. However if you finish that or want a smaller Contest they will be running alongside as usual, the same two week cycle of shorter Contests. These will be smaller projects and less demanding on you. So on the 27th two Contests will be posted. The Longer and the Shorter for February - the Shorter will finish half way through the Longer and then another Shorter will be posted.

It's completely up to you on which Contest you take part in, whether you have time to enter the Longer or the Shorter Contests, or maybe both! We want to give everyone the chance to be able to take part.

I will be posting the Shorter Contests and Lilygirl will be posting the Longer Contests. Even though that is the arrangement you MUST still PM BOTH of us for any questions. Especially me if you have any questions as  you may or may not know that Lilygirl is expecting a Baby and is not far away, so she may not be able to get to a Computer frequently enough to check messages.
