I based this project on the old Centurian challenge. For those not familiar with this challenge, it's basically how much money and lifetime happiness points can a single sim acquire in 100 days. My objective was to see just how many simoleons 1 sim could make in 100 days by fishing and gardening and selling the product at the consignment store.
I created Julie Fisher as my sim for this project. Her traits are Ambitious, Angler, Born Saleswoman, Green Thumb, and Loves the Outdoors. Julie lives the outdoor lifestyle (no structures other than a wall for the toilet) at 477 Sunnyside Blvd in Sunset Valley. I deleted the neighboring home and placed the Consignment Store there for quick access.
First thing Julie did was to go to the grocery store to purchase several of each fruit and vegetable for bait and to plant. While there she also took the fishing class, registered as a professional angler and started fishing right away. Julie completed the Amateur Ichthyologist challenge by day 2 and started catching deathfish that night. She saved up the first 10 deathfish to stock a pond at her lot.
Once she completed the Amateur Ichthyologist challenge it was time to go to the library to read up on gardening. By day 5 she had attained level 6 gardening and enough lifetime happiness points for the Super Green Thumb LTR (to get the Omni plant faster). While planting all the plants and fertilizing them she hit level 7 gardening and planted the special seeds she had been collecting on her nightly fishing trips to the graveyard. Fortunately one of the special seeds turned out to be a life fruit.
Julie continued her days maintaining her garden in the first part of her day and fishing when that was done. The aim was to get the Commercial Fisherman challenge and the Omni plant opportunity as quickly as possible for maximum profit. She took the Suave Seller LTR next and began saving up for the moodlet manager.
On it went for Julie, doing nothing other than gardening and fishing. The only time she interacted with other sims was inadvertantly chatting with another angler at the various fishing spots. She kept her garden as small as possible, planting only 1 of each plant and deleting each one as it came to maturity (except for life fruits and money trees). In retrospect this was a mistake as it slowed the completion of the Master Farmer challenge (650 fruits and vegetables harvested).
It didn't take long for Julie to complete her Swimming in Cash LTW by selling deathfish at the consignment store and when she did there were enough points to get the moodlet manager. Not too long after that she completed the Commercial Fisherman challenge and created 3 ponds on her lot to stock alley catfish, angelfish and deathfish. I have found that fishing from stocked ponds like this is only efficient if you have the Commercial Fisherman challenge completed. Once this was done the only time Julie left the lot was to go to the consignment store or to complete the opportunities for the Omni plant.
Right around week 5 Julie completed the Omni plant opportunity and now the simoleons can really start to roll in. The first Omni plant was fed with a deathfish that was worth roughly $2,500. Each time she caught a record sized deathfish it was fed to the Omni plants. In the past I had used perfect garlic as a cost effective fertilizer for my gardens but I found that using perfect life fruits to fertilize the Omni plants lets you harvest them every day as opposed to every other day, which is a huge boost to productivity.
The rest of the project was basically 9 weeks of fishing when not gardening, feeding a larger deathfish to the Omni plants whenever possible (yes, it was kind of tedious), and using the moodlet manager to avoid sleeping and eating. Julie took the Steel Bladder, Hardly Hungry, Dirt Defiant, No Bills Ever and Age Freeze LTRs in that order as the points accumulated. Once she had 15 or so harvestable Omni plants it was common to go to the consignment store with 50+ deathfish.
After 100 days (week 15, day 2) Julie had accumulated $40,544,293 for an average daily income of $405,442. She had caught 2,184 total fish, 1,357 deathfish (the largest was 603kg, basic value $7,950), 500 angelfish (largest was 271kg), and 197 alley catfish (largest was 8kg). She also had 123,000 unspent lifetime happiness points.
The consignment store with the Born Saleswoman trait and the Suave Seller reward was a huge boost to profitability. Towards the end of the project the deathfish were selling for $16,000+ each and the top daily payout from the consignment store was around $900,000.
I don't usually play so single-mindedly but I thought it would be interesting to see just how much 1 sim could make using these methods.
