Can my Sim marry the maid?

My Sim Max needs a wife! After a lot of work he finally found a Sim that is very pretty, close to his age, and that has traits that I can live with. The only thing is that the Ask to Marry (or whatever it is called) option never comes up. It took a long time, but I finally got her to move in. They even have the Try for Baby option! Oh and by the way she was his maid. Now that she lives with him she is no longer a maid. So, can Sims marry maids? I sure hope they can! I hope all of this was not just a waste of time! I would be tempted to have them stay together anyway! Wait, they can have babies with maids right? Please help! I am confused!

Your sim can marry anyone including maids - NCP's (e.g maids, firefighters) sometimes come with hidden traits, but your sim should be able to marry her, yes they can have babies too!

I thought so, but like I said the option to get married never pops up. I wonder why. Thank you for helping me! Any ideas about why that option has not come up?

This may seem very basic but you have to start somewhere:

First Kiss, Propse Going Steady, Propose Marriage, Have Private Wedding.

Or it could be a bug. I'm having the same problem with Thorton Wolff.

What are you patched to?

When your sim is socialising with her it should say in action cue what she thinks of your sim. Keep using Romantic Interactions until it says *Maids Name* thinks that *Sims Name* is Extremely Irresistable thats when it normaly shows up it a similar process to getting them to move in just change Extremely Irresistable for friendly.

You also usually need your sim to have all needs fairly high.

To TheLostGirls: I don't think I am patched to anything, but I am not sue what that means. Propose Going Steady never came up either.
To samoht04: I am almost sure I have seen the maid think that Max was "Extremely Irresistable" and the "Try for Baby" option came up, but the "Propose Marriage" option never came.
To kat: Their needs start out really good, but after trying to get them to marry each other for hours (without any luck) their needs get low. Maybe I can try to make them really, really happy then try. I am worried it might be a bug. Or maybe I just need to keep at it. Like I said as long as they can have children I am happy. Although it would be nice to see them get married.

Try inviting the maid home instead of calling her to clean (after hiring her once and talking a while so she appears on your friend list). Several interactions are not available with service sims when they are working.

To TGBlank: I have gone way past all that stuff. She now lives with Max and I control her. She is no longer a maid. I believe she is listed as a "Love Inerest" on his Friend List. Yet I still can't get them to marry each other.

Does your sim or her have any past relationships?
have any of your sims traveled?
Have your sims wohoo-ed?
Have you reached "extremely irresistible" state while happy to check if there's a 'going steady' option?
Are both of your sims young adults or older?
Is she pregnant?

Nope, neither one of them have had past relationships.
They have never traveled.
They have "Wohoo-ed.
I have reached "Extremely Irresistible" while they were happy, but the "Going Steady" option never came up.
They are both Young Adults.
She is not pregnant. I am sure she is not.

None of them list any phantom offspring/partner on their friend list / family tree?

If your answer to that is no then you could've hit some random bug, try patching the game and see if that fixes it.
If your answer to the question is yes then your sim got the dreaded immaculate conception bug, no known fixes for that other than starting over.

I think maybe there is a relationship bug.  This isn't the first time I've seen where a couple can't go steady or get married, even though everything is in place to make it happen.  I don't know of a cure for it yet.  If it is indeed a bug, EA will have to release an update/patch to fix it.

Just a question, have you seen the a choice that says confess atraction showing up? My sims do need to confess before they can do the usually chain...

To TGBlank: The answer is no. They have no children or past partners. Do you know of a patch that would fix it?
To Pam: Yeah, I was affraid of that. Thanks for the information! The "Try for Baby" option has popped up. Do you know if I can have a baby with her? Will they be able to have a baby even though they can't get married? If there is a bug making it to where they can't get married or even go steady will they be able to have a baby together?
To Margerita: No, I have not seen the "Confess Attraction" option pop up. By the way I think Margerita is the name of the Sim I am talking about. The one that Max is trying to get to marry him.
