That's a huge bummer, Esther. I can't tell by your computer since I'm not looking at it in person for sure, but you've still been playing on distorted pets right? You could have destroyed your GPU and your motherboard at the same time, since the GPU is directly attached to the motherboard. Hopefully you can get a new motherboard and graphics card with your power supply.

Oh my sims Jeana. Yes I had been playing with distorted pets, I figured they were just ugly I never thought they would totally mess my computer up.  That's an awful thought, and I hope it's not my motherboard. How would I be able to tell? The tower won't come on at all so I can't get on there and check anything out!

Good idea Louise, but it really doesn't have to do with sims, so should it be on a sims forums? Also, my computer genius friend is coming over tomorrow, (he said lol but he also said he'd get me a new card in November too  , )and he's going to look at it for me. I told him what Jeana said and he said the only way to tell if it's the motherboard, GPU or power supply is to look at it.

Oh no!!! That has to be such an awful feeling. I remember back in my old PC days I would literally almost have a heart attack when my computer messed up. Thankfully I switched over to mac a couple years ago and I've never had one problem since. But anyways I'm not going to get a rant started on PC vs Mac, just my experience!

I hope your computer genius friend can get you all fixed up again! I miss the Halliwells

Thanks Kattiq, it is a horrible feeling. Not being able to even turn it on and put them on a flash drive is the worst. I've never used a Mac, just a PC so I don't know about that! I hope so too, he picked it up about an hour, hour a half ago. He said he's about 90% sure it's the power supply but the only way to know for sure is when he gets home and opens it up. He said there is a possibility he will need to wipe the harddrive, but I'm hoping not, but I told him right now it's useless to me so do whatever he needs to do to get it fixed. If I have to start over again, at least I will be able to play them! I'm so tired of the restarts but I'm determined to finish one so no matter how many times I have to restart until I get a successful one that's what I'll do. I hope so too, and I do too. As soon as I get it back I'm either going to play them or restart them depending on what he does. He said he will let me know later what he finds when he opens it up, so I will keep you guys posted! I really hope this thread doesn't have to go to the graveyard!!

With the inability to get even any response from your computer, I'm guessing it probably is your power supply. I hope it all gets sorted out soon, my monitor died last thursday, and not having my computer for five days was torture, so I feel your pain.

Thanks Juxt. Did you get your monitor fixed? He texted me a little bit ago, the cooling fan and power supply were both bad so he replaced them. I also lost a gig of RAM somehow. He said what might have happened was the cooling fan shorted out, taking out my power supply and a gig of RAM. He added a 512 MB stick, so I have 5 and a half gig of RAM instead of 6, but I only need 2 gigs to play sims so I'm good. I asked him if he had to wipe the harddrive, and he said he needed to run the scans tomorrow and if they come back negative he won't have too, so I'm hoping everything is negative!! So hopefully I'll get it back tomorrow if the scans are negative.  Thanks for all your support guys and gals! I'm not wanting to promise something I can't do, so I will just say I sure hope I can play them tomorrow.

Thanks Louise! I am too and I hope so too!! I just woke  up and sent him a message and he's just started the scans, so I hope they get done soon and all come back negative.

Ok peeps, I'm very excited. The only thing that showed up on the scans is Origin so he deleted that, so I re-downloaded it. He said it's bad for viruses, I said it's made by EA, for the sims and I think it's perfectly safe. He also said maybe there was a glitch in the file when I installed Pets and that's why they are deformed. He's good with computers, I'll give him that, but he's not that knowledgeable about sims like we are. He suggested I uninstall and reinstall. I told him I'd think about it, but we all know what a pain in the patootie that is. My gut and instinct is telling my it's my graphics card, while his is telling him it's a glitch in the program. I'll let you guys vote whichever way your gut tells you and we'll go from there. I played them for a little while and was in pure heaven!! I'm doing some things on fb I hadn't been able to do for awhile than I'll upload the pics and write the update. You guys are awesome for sticking with me through everything and keeping the faith in the Halliwell's and I want to thank each and everyone of you.

YAY! I am so glad it worked out for good.
I think you should try to reinstall before going all out on a graphics card. Yes, my gut tells me its the card, but I'd try all avenues first just to make sure!

I would get a new card, anyways. Trust me, the results are worth it, I stopped having distorted pets as soon as I got a new card.
