Is there any way to tell if a Sim is a Young Adult or Adult?
« on: February 15, 2010, 08:10:58 PM »
My Sim Max is a Young Adult. He is also Family-Oriented. So I am ready for him to get married and start a family. He still has like 18 days until he ages up. My problem is I don't want him to get with some who is almost an Elder! Plus I am planing on focusing on his career first, then having a kid or two. So, I need him to get with a Young Adult. Is there any way to tell the difference between Adult Sims and Young Adult Sims? I would be very thankful if someone could help me!

The other NPC sims in town?  I don't know of any way to determine their true ages without bringing them into your household as a playable sim.  You can always feed them ambrosia once you marry them, assuming you can make it.  Eating Ambrosia will reset them to the beginning of their current age.  That should let you keep them around for as long as you like.

Ok thanks! How many Cooking Skills are needed to make Ambrosia?

You can use the make a party option on the phone to find out their age stage if you hoover your mouse button over any sim on the list.
Good luck!

You need Cooking 10, then buy the recipe from the bookstore for about 12,000 simoleans.  Another benefit is a week long +75 happiness buff  :o

Using the phone to throw a party, as Margerita said, is an easy way to see their age group.  As for Ambrosia, not only do you need level 10 cooking skill, but you also need to have high gardening and fishing skills because the ingredients for Ambrosia are Life Fruit and Deathfish.

Awesome! Thanks Margerita! That worked! I was thinking about getting Max with this one Sim, but now I know she is almost an elder! There are three girls That like him and they are all Young Adults. One of them is a Fire Fighter, but she is close to being an Adult. I don't know, this is hard! It is hard to find a good looking, young, nice Sim with traits that go with his! It takes me forever to figure traits of other Sims out! Is there a trick to finding traits out?

Purchasing the Observant reward with Happiness Points is the easiest way to learn traits.  It will give you three of their traits when you first meet them or upon the first conversation you have with them after purchasing the reward.  Other ways are to try every interaction possible under Friendly and Funny.  Talk about a lot of different subjects and if the Sim has one of those traits, it will be revealed.  I sometimes have to let my Sims settle for a less than perfect mate.  For instance, maybe he/she is a slob or is childish.  Those traits aren't so bad.  But I stay away from evil and hot-headed because those Sims will just act mean and make my Sim unhappy.  One of my current Sims broke up with Sam Sekemoto because he insulted her and upset her for no reason.  I didn't like that, so he got the boot.  Hehe.

If you do still want to know if an uncontrolled sim is an adult or not, check their foreheads; if there are wrinkles there, you have an adult; if not, a young adult!
