Possible Chemistry?
« on: February 15, 2010, 01:07:30 PM »
Ok, I was just going about my business today reading through the forum (Random: please pardon any spelling errors, my keyboard is sticking and it's sometimes skips letters I press even though I made sure I pressed them...) ANYWAYS I was just reading through and found the topic on Thorton Wolff (http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=645.0;topicseen), I would've said something about it, but it was a little off-topic... so I just decided to post another topic and if I put it in the wrong area I'm sorry you may move it to where it belongs.
Anyways to quote Saltypaws from that topic "I had a problem with Wolff too, I even changed his traits and I guess they were imbedded, LOL.  I had another couple that I was trying to get together, no matter what I did, could not get passed flirt stage, well, I did finally get to first kiss and all it said is that he thought she was being friendly, maybe some sims just do not like someone and that is that."
I have once had a Sim teen who moved into the house next to the Alvi house in Sunset Valley. I decided that she should make friends with the teen son (and punk) VJ. I had him come over (I like playing fate so I had already decided that I want her to marry someone else.) and they talked, only I didn't need to really tell her to do anything, they started just talking all by themselves, then out of no where, he kissed her, not the "first kiss" interaction, but a full on kiss! I was so shocked! Then I decided to mess with traits a bit and move her into a new neighborhood next to the Alvi house and when they became friends I had to force them to talk. I'm slowly starting to believe that there is some type of chemistry in the Sims that makes someone like someone else a little more then they would another. Just a thought of course :)

That could very well be true.  Some of my Sims really respond better to one Sim than another and it seems to be more than just compatible traits.  They probably have something in their programming that makes them act this way.

I think its great sometimes, but not so great other times.
Only because right now I'm playing a family I made that didn't work out the way I had hoped it would. The son is a teenager, and well... the mom and dad are trying to make the divorce as gentle as possible on all of them...

I remember in Sims 2 that the sims would get little lightning bolts next to people that they thought were a bit of alright (in their relationship panel). 1 bolt for 'attracted', and 2 for 'really attracted'. Perhaps the same code is written into Sims 3, but without the actual symbol?

Why are they getting divorced?

I decided to go back to the family that I did the baby boomer challenge on and check on some of the kids. Just so happens one of the girls had a baby by Alvi, ewwww. good grief, I thought I raised them better than that. So I thought, ok, moved them in so he could get to know his son, changed his looks, which did not help much and got him a treadmill to shave off some pounds. He doesn't look too bad, but maybe the kid will look like his mom, only one can hope.  Funny thing is though, they had a baby, but when I did have them meet, they still hadn't had their first kiss. Only in the world of the Sims 3.

Haha that is so strange!!!
I've never heard of that happening. Hmm, I have to say I only have seen one un-necessary child. (One that came in without my say and wasn't expected). That was when my teen went to China and found out she was a mother to a daughter!

It's a known WA bug, and a very good reason to save before traveling. A sim whose data is corrupted may cause greater issues later and break the stability of the neighborhood.

Another strange thing too, my sim did the same thing, traveled and I found a son in her friends list and when I got her home her last name had been changed to the same last name of her son in china, I took her down and had it changed back.  I don't mind some of the glitches, I can work around them, but that was just too weird.

That's the WA bug i was talking about. If you have a save prior to traveling, load that one, otherwise if you're unlucky your sim may be stuck in a romance relationship that (s)he can't end, among other assorted random bad stuff.
