I chose the "Elope" path with the Wedding quest (before reading that the main hero is almost sure to be executed
). My Bard was the Main hero, the one to be married, and the Knight was the Best Man.
All goes well up until the actual marriage has to happen. The Bard and Knight and the Bard's betrothed were all at the forest. Bard and Knight in good moods, daily requirements finished, etc. The Bard has previously asked for hand in marriage and convinced her love to elope.
When I tried to do the "Have Marriage... Here" social interaction, the Bard would ask, and then do that annoying "Something is in my way!" thing and the action cancels. A popup box says something like, "Oh no! The Ceremony had to be cancelled? Is everything in order? Did somebody get cold feet?" I tried it over and over again with the same result every time.
So then, I went back to a prior save and tried it again, this time selecting the Docks for the location for the marriage. The same thing happened and eventually I just gave up and quit the quest, losing the quest points.
Has anyone else run into this problem? I've read about other issues with the Wedding quest but not the same problems I'm having. I have the latest patch installed, and I play on a Mac, if that makes any difference.
