Okay, sorry, I need to say one more thing.

I know I am not that person (because I am not legendary), but probably most of my posts have been in the Babble Thread and have been frivolous, one-lined comments. So you can be assured I read this and am definitely heeding the advice.

To Gogo and all other members: Sorry. But in a good way. As in, I will learn and know better. :)

I can definitely relate to this. It does get annoying when the Babble Thread grows very quickly. I remember looking at someone profile who joined a few months ago and had already reached Legendary Member status. (I won't name them.) Lets hope some of the biggest posters read this.
I can probably guess that you are meaning me. I'm sorry for all my frivolous posts in the babble thread.

Nobody is naming anyone.  Besides, there's every possibility that there's more than one.  :)

And thanks to everyone for understanding.  Carl and I expect the Forum to continue to grow at a rapid rate for the rest of this year and it's good to know that we have such cooperative and friendly members.

Thanks for posting this thread, Carl. I've also felt a bit overwhelmed by the Babble Thread lately, and I even worried the forum was getting overpopulated. Some of the non-Babble threads are getting a bit too conversational as well (and yeah, I think I posted in a couple myself), so I hope this announcement will get the forum back on track somewhat. I'm glad everone's so understanding about it.  :)

Thank you Carl.
I personally enjoy the little insight into everyone's life, like Nat getting Engaged, or CSquared adopting. However, I don't like having to try 10 times to say something.
Like, it's my birthday tomorrow (Sunday), so I don't want to have to hit "post" 10 times before I can say "Thank you! I got...".

Do you mean when you try to post and it give you the notice that someone else has posted ahead of you?

I too am guilty. -sigh- But when school starts back up in a few days I won't be around as much anyway, so I'll be visiting the Babble Thread a lot less regardless, if at all.

Same. Ive been on the forum a lot lately but as soon as school starts you probably won't hear from me nearly as much.

I skim the Babble and when I see something from a member's life that is interesting that requires a thumbs up or a pat on the back I respond. Otherwise, I have decided I can't stay online forever and answer the volumes of pages generated.
I close down for half a day and have pages to catch up on!

After this issue has been discussed, I believe that the matter has improved greatly. I've been seeing many more useful posts on the forum and less of the frivolous one-lined comments (like I used to post).

I, for one, have been focusing more on the story boards. I've discovered that I enjoy reading other people's writing, and I've rekindled my own love for writing. So I can say that, at least for me, this was one of the best things to happen to me on this forum. Live and learn, for sure. :)

I too am guilty. I do get surprised when I look at someone who has become legendary before me, and they only join 3 weeks ago (Just an example).

I know I don't get on as often as I used to because of my new job but I swear its pages and pages to go through. I would like to know what's going on but I'm afraid that I don't have the time to sift though the "chatter" of the babble thread. I thought it was just me. I posted day before yesterday and I agree. It's only 5 or so pages to go through. Thanks, Carl, for pointing it out.

Now I don't know if I have the opportunity for 'idle chatter' in the babble thread (frankly I am always afraid my posts are too long because I want to participate in everything), but I know I have dropped some short replies in other threads. I am sorry. I didn't consider what it actually takes to run such a grand site (i.e. bandwidth, moderator time, etc). I will be more mindful now that it has be brought out in the open.

I think all of us have been guilty of one line posts at one time or another.  I have probably done that myself without even realizing it.  I think the worst was like Pam said, people trying to get their post counts up.  I have been here on this forum almost since it started and there are some people that have been here for less than a few months and have passed me up.  I never really paid too much attention about how many posts I had.  I have been going to the babble thread a little more lately and yes, it has gotten quite large.  For the most part, people are doing a great job and I know that this site will continue to grow in the future. :)
